In a world that is constantly changing, a lot of television producers are trying to spice things up in an attempt to cater to a wider variety of audiences. Even cable channel CMT is getting in on the action. It comes in the form of a new television show that will be co-hosted by popular country music singer Kellie Pickler.
The show, called “Pickler & Ben,” will feature co-host Kellie Pickler along with Ben Aaron, a popular individual across various forms of television. It starts airing Tuesday, September 20th, on CMT as part of their morning lineup. At the same time, the show is also going to be airing on smaller networks that cater to a particular niche, thereby giving the show an opportunity to reach audiences both large and small. The end goal is to get the show in front of a national audience, hence its debut on CMT.
“Pickler & Ben” is produced by another famous country singer, Faith Hill. The show has been in development for the last couple of years. The idea is that with one famous country artist producing it and another co-hosting it, perhaps it will spark the interest of individuals who don’t typically watch the shows that cater to either coast. In other words, the powers-that-be are looking for a show that is more in tune with individuals who live in the middle of the country as opposed to Los Angeles or New York.
Filmed in front of a live audience on location in Nashville, this series is supposed to focus on things like cooking, designs for the home, and entertainment. Don’t be fooled into thinking that just because it is a show that features country artists and is recorded in Nashville, that it will only feature other country artists. The idea is for the show to feature a wide platform of different topics and feature just as many different individuals. In addition, Pickler already has a show on CMT, which has been well received. Therefore, there is every reason to hope that this new series will have an equal or even greater fan following.
There is no doubt that it can be difficult to make it in daytime television. Many individuals that have had just as much clout or even more have tried and failed. However, Pickler’s personality is virtually infectious, drawing in large audiences from all different walks of life. Perhaps CMT has actually found the perfect duo in co-host and producer in order to create a television show that is capable of succeeding where others have failed. While many of these types of shows have not demonstrated the staying power that was expected of them, there is genuine hope that this one will be different.
In the end, only time will tell whether or not this show will experience the same level of success as Pickler’s current reality television show on the same network. All the ingredients seem to be in place. Hopefully, the show can enjoy a long run and ultimately fill an empty slot in daytime TV that has been needing to be filled for quite some time.
