RuPaul Repeats As Reality Host Emmy Winner

So what is it about RuPaul that makes the ratings shoot to the stars? The star of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is building a reputation for switching networks and snagging an Emmy. He’s done it again by claiming the second consecutive Emmy in the category of Best Host of a Reality or Reality Competition program. He’s put in his time and waited patiently and now he’s on a roll.

Overlooked in the past

RuPaul Charles is one of those celebrities who packs in the viewers to any network he’s associated with, but for years, he was overlooked and snubbed for any honorable mentions at the awards ceremonies. His dry spell is finally over with his repeat performance of winning two emmies back to back. The first recognition was a major mark of success for the Logo TV network. Who could have predicted that his switch to VH1 would have resulted in the same remarkable life achievement? This leaves us wondering which television network is going to be clamoring for “RuPauls’s Drag Race” next. His season with VH1 pulled in the highest ratings for the show and RuPaul Charles is certainly reaping the benefits of years of hard work in the entertainment industry.

Gaining prestige

The second win that Charles bagged represents only the third time that an Emmy for best reality show has been awarded for a cable series. He joins the ranks of Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum, who received the same award in 2013 for their “Project Runway” with the Lifetime Network. Of course, we’re not making any comparisons because both shows stand on their own in popularity.

Comparisons of his responses

The first Emmy RuPaul received last year stirred him to give a colorful speech. Prior to being chosen for the Emmy, he had compared the award to an enema and indicated that he would rather have the latter. His tone changed a bit as he received Emmy one and he amended the previous statement to say that “thanks to the Television Academy, I can have both!”

Charles didn’t make a personal appearance to pick up his second Emmy award. Instead, his representative was there to present his thank you speech. The note stated that he was “beyond grateful to the Television Academy for giving love to our show again this year…” the statement went on to thank them for giving the talented and courageous queens a platform that reached viewers throughout the world. He also gave credit to everyone on the cast and crew of the show as well as the VH1 Network.

This is a major milestone for RuPaul Charles. He’s a controversial figure who dares to stand up for his chosen lifestyle and people around the world of the same persuasion. He’s been successful in offering high quality entertainment and a venue for queens to present their talents to the world, giving and receiving love from loyal viewers who are driving the ratings of the show to new highs with each year that passes. One thing is for certain, VH1 would do well to keep the show going on the network.
