Law & Order True Crime: What We Know So Far

Law & Order True Crime: What We Know So Far

Have you ever seen that movie in which there is a character that no matter what you do them you can’t kill them? In fact, the more you become sure that they are dead, they actually return with more just like them. Well, that is how Law & Order is. For nearly 30 years, the Law & Order franchise has found its way into the living room of Americans. Well, things are about to be taken to an entirely different level. In the latest installment of Law & Order, the show will dive into stories that are connected to real-life cases. The anthology’s first installment will focus on the story and cases of the Menendez brothers, Lyle and Erik, who brutally murdered their parents in their Beverly Hills home in 1989.

The story will play out over the course of eight drama-filled episodes. This show is more than an adaptation of biopic, it is an in-depth look at the facts of the case, the lives of the people involved and it will leave you asking whether or not justice was done.

If you are at least 40-years-old, you are keenly aware of this story. Not only did this story catch national headlines, but it became an international phenomenon. There were so many questions being asked, with the one at the top of everyone’s list being: What in the world would drive to young men who seemingly had everything to commit such ghastly crimes?

As the story unfolded, there were allegations of sexual and physical abuse by the boy’s father.

Law & Order: True Crime delves into the totality of the storyline that played out back then – everything from the media circus, the crime itself and all of the players that emerged – making it a very complex case to prosecute.

Just off the presses, the show’s producers have added another high-profile actor to the cast. Actor, Keong Sim (Olympus Has Fallen), will be added to the cast in the role of Deputy District Attorney Lester Kuriyama. He will play the role of “second seat” to Deputy Pam Bozanich, who is being played by Elizabeth Reaser. The makeup of Keong’s character is that is lacks that capacity for lateral thought, plays solely by the rules of the law and he lacks imagination.

Dick Wolf and his associative producers have never had a problem getting A-list actors to appear on any of the Franchise’s brands and this show definitely boast a star-studded cast that includes Edie Falco, Heather Graham, Miles Gaston Villanueva, Josh Charles and Gus Halper. The showrunner is a Law & Order veteran by the name of Rene Balcer who has recruited Lesli Linka Glatter to direct several episodes of the series.

The Law & Order franchise is not really new to this concept, the show has always borrowed from real-life events and social realities to drive thought, but this time there are no subtle changes in facts or renaming of the characters involved in the story. This is the story of the Menendez murders front and center and unpacked in a way that only the Law & Order team can do it.

It is not clear whether or not the show plans on making any other major additions to the cast of extending the arc of this particular installment, but what is clear is that viewers will be able to expect and experience a quality product.
