The reality based paranormal show “Ghost Adventures” starring Zak Bagans, Aaron Goodwin and Nick Groff is entertaining for those with an interest in the afterlife. The situations become quite intense as the three man crew heads into places that are believed to be haunted by human or demonic spirits. It’s a show that should probably be watched with the lights on and is it scary? Yes, more often than not, it is, but the series offers much more than entertainment. There is also an educational element to the episodes.
Here are five life lessons that the show “Ghost Adventures” teaches us.
1. There is an afterlife
This is a topic that is of interest to practically everyone. We live for a short period of time and then we pass away. People want to have hope that there is something beyond this existence. The show provides evidence suggesting that people do go on after they die. Some of them remain here and attempt to communicate with the living. This brings comfort to some who have recently lost a loved one or who may be facing death soon themselves.
2. We learn how to debunk
A big part of the work that the team does is to differentiate between paranormal activity and events that are cause by natural forces which are unrelated. There are many different causes of strange noises, cold spots or physical symptoms which could also signal the presence of a spiritual entity. The team investigates mysteries that their clients cannot figure out on their own. There are times when they are able to offer a logical explanation of what is going on and it is discussed in detail so viewers will be able to do the same.
3. It is important to find peace in life
The team often deals with spirits that have left this world either in a violent or unexpected way. Many spirits are believed to have unfinished business and this is what prevents them from leaving this dimension and moving on to their next destination. In many instances, earth bound spirits are not at peace and they did not find peace while they were alive. The show teaches us the importance of finding satisfaction in our lives and being at peace with ourselves so we can move on to the next adventure that exists beyond this plane of existence.
4. Education in science and technology
The “Ghost Adventures” crew uses state of the art equipment and gadgets in their work. As they set up to try to find evidence of paranormal presences, they explain each device as it is set up, what it is, why it is used and how it works. For example, an EMF detector identifies electromagnetic frequencies which may either be caused by the presence of a spirit, or in some cases, by more natural things such as electrical currents or electromagnetic fields causing interference.
5. Faith gives us strength
Guests which appear on the show are from a variety of different cultures and belief systems. The show does allude to faith on a regular basis, particularly when dealing with a malevolent entity. The crew uses elements of the Christian faith for protection and sometimes resort to a member of the clergy to help clear a place of evil spirits in an exorcism. Throughout it’s run time, there have been representatives from multiple faiths on the show and all are given the respect due them. The show teaches us that faith is a powerful weapon for protecting us from dark forces.
