Just when you thought the story had hit that final mark, the Happy Ending After All that so many people have been waiting for, producers seemed to think that a reboot of Once Upon a Time was needed to spice things up. To be quite honest the show was starting to get a bit stale after the third and then fourth season, and then new openings were created that allowed it to keep going. New characters were added, the plot lines became saturated, and more and more story arcs began to crowd in like a high rise elevator at rush hour. Are you getting the picture now?
Season 7 is going to essentially empty that metaphorical elevator in a puff of smoke as the fairy tale returns in roughly the same way, albeit with a different cast. Henry has grown up, Hook and Regina are still about but with different personas, and, well, it’s another trek into the fairy tale from which they all essentially sprung. Is it needed? Not really, because to be honest it seemed like they all had their happily ever after all lined up. Is it wanted? Yes and no, because some fans seem to think that the constant loop that seems to be enveloping this story will bring something new and exciting around this time just as it did the first time.
If I might quote the [easyazon_link identifier=”B001L2EHVO” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]Barenaked Ladies[/easyazon_link] for a moment, “It’s all been done before.” But that’s not stopping them from spinning the wheel, is it?
The older, more cynical Henry is going to be taking over the role that his mother, Emma Swan, once mastered so well.
Lucy, the precocious youngster that reveals that she IS Henry’s daughter, seems every bit as determined as he was when he was that young. So why is it that he can’t remember? Oh yeah, curse and fairy tales and, yeah.
Do you get the feeling that Lucy is going to be every bit the little ray of hope that Henry was at her age?
Regina the bartender. Just don’t go asking for an appletini.
It’s going to be interesting seeing a new character that’s not in charge and is a little rough around the edges but still basically a good person. Roni doesn’t sound much like Regina does she?
Welcome back to the woods Henry, things likely haven’t been the same without you.
Hook doesn’t look a day older obviously, curses must do the body good in terms of keeping shape and youth. It’s not recommended though.
Hook, Killian, whatever you want to call him in season 7 the best part is that he’s back. It’s just a shame that Emma won’t be.
Look at it this way, at least Hook and Henry are still getting along and seem to be on good terms.
Meeting once again as friends. Hook and Henry are off towards another adventure together. Who knows where this one will lead?
I’ll reiterate just a bit. Season 7 might be the turnaround this show needs, but it’s truly bound to be just more of the same wrapped in a different package. Let’s assume the worst and hope for the best and plan on being surprised.
