President Donald Trump is truly one of the most controversial American leaders in the history of this nation. His public statements not only shock people, they also infuriate, inspire and even bring out the worse that people have to offer. Since Donald Trump became president many television, radio and internet shows have been writing scripts to include comments about his presidency. The following material will highlight some of the harshest attacks and criticisms against President Trump since his time in office.
Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live (SNL) has done a lot over the past few years to discredit the president with their show. While they are not completely trying to derail the president from the White House, they certainly are letting the world know that they do not agree with him being there. One of the funniest and most interesting skits the president was their 2017 portrayal of Trump in a skit titled “Trump People’s Court”.
Alec Baldwin played Donald Trump (he is normally used in this role) and Trump was supposedly suing the 9th district court judges for blocking his immigration ban. This particular skit got over 12 million views on YouTube and is a very funny but anti-Trump portrayal of the president. The show was harshly criticizing Trump for his actions, they were just being “humorous” about the matter. Baldwin is good at playing Trump. You can check it out on YouTube.
Designated Survivor
Designated Survivor is a political show that plays around with the possibility of placing an unskilled political survivor into the role of the president. On the show, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Tom Kirkman has to be put into office because all of the other political leaders above him were killed in a terrorist related incident.
Kirkman’s presidency is anti-Trump because the members on the show attack Kirkman’s inexperience in politics. This of course is a reference to Trump that writers and producers do not deny. Designated Survivor creators are not a big fan of Trump and they make constantly allude to this fact throughout the season on their program.
Quantico

The ABC political based show called Quantico might have taken things too far with their criticism of the president. On a particular episode within the series, they had terrorists carry out their attacks against Americans while shouting “Make America Great Again”. Many people thought this was just too much.
Law & Order: SVU
Law and Order created an episode about a president who had sexual allegations against him. This was inspired by the real Trump case that took place back in 2016. The show realizes that it would not be in the best interest of the network or their series to air this episode. As a matter of fact, they are seriously considering scraping the show forever.
All of these scripted shows have made some or many criticisms of President Trump. America’s First Amendment allows people to make these types of accusations and to speak out against our leaders. While people are free to say whatever it is they want they should be very careful about what it is they say. These programs are living proof that it might not always be in the best interest to criticize a leader whether the condemnation is justified or not.
Scandal
Scandal does not do a direct portrayal of Trump. Instead, they just make up stories that are based loosely on his character and presidency. The show is about the political landscape in America. It was purposely written to show the government in a controversial and unpredictable manner. The show’s writers and producers are now struggling to write stories that can outdo Trump’s real-life antics and actions.
Scandal does not necessarily have a character that resembles Trump but they do have one that is based off his personality. This Scandal figure is making some nearly identical Trumpian remarks about immigrants. Hollis Doyle is the character’s name.
