I had to post this photo simply because it says so much. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden were two of the biggest purveyors of the Seattle sound that hit the world like wildfire in the 1990s. Frankly this picture nearly sums it all up. Here are two bands that were at the top of their game just when Lollapalooza was kicking off as a force to be reckoned with in the musical events industry. Here are two bands that even appeared in the same movie together, Singles. And here are two bands that were in their youth, shredding it up on stage before even caring about what “real life” was. And here are two bands that are simply put, incredible.
To this day no one has really gotten over the death of Chris Cornell (and frankly no one ever will). But it’s nice to know people are still throwing around these kinds of photos to remind us just how powerful a band Soundgarden was. It’s practically hard to recognize Eddie Vedder here right? Craziness.
Unfortunately I attended Lollapalooza years later when Soundgarden and Metallica were there. I’d give anything to go back in time and see the 1992 show.
