Fans of Jordan Gavaris are familiar with the character Felix Dawkins that he plays on “Orphan Black,” This is the role that helped him to gain attention and begin to grow an impressive fan base. He’s popular and people like Felix even though his sister tries to steal the limelight on the series. He holds his own and does it quite well. Her attempts to upstage him don’t deter loyals who think he’s the real star. He’s doing well on the show but here are some things about Jordan Gavaris that you didn’t know.
He was a model
Jordan did some modeling for the famed clothier Abercrombie & Fitch. He certainly has the physique for the job. Although he makes a fine male model, his preference is acting. When it comes to modeling, his preference is to be a role model. Gavaris recently came out as being gay and is doing what he can to support the LGBT community of which he is a part.
He was in “Curse of Chucky”
Many fans don’t realize that Jordan played the role of a delivery guy in the 2013 film “Curse of Chucky.” This was before he became well known to fans as Felix in “Orphan Black.” He played the part to perfection coming off as being a bit on the “skeevy” side.
He has a convincing accent but isn’t British
The majority of fans take it for granted that Gavaris is British because of is accent on the show. Even co-stars who work with him on a daily basis didn’t know that it’s merely an impression. He is so convincing that after work, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Jerome Flynn were astounded when he dropped the accent and spoke in his normal voice. He’s a master at pulling off the fake British accent. Actually, Jordan was born in Canada and is still a Canadian citizen.
His original passion was not acting
Jordan is a talented actor and he’s proven that to the world, but it wasn’t his first career choice. When he was younger, he had dreams of becoming a director instead. Many great actors also serve as directors, writers and producers so we hope that he hasn’t abandoned the notion of directing because in this business, anything is possible. We’ll keep an eye on his career and won’t be surprised if we see that he’s landed a few episodes to try his hand at directing. Maybe in the near future?
He’s got something big on the burner
Jordan Gavaris is still going strong on Orphan Black but playing the role has been an exhausting endeavor. This is something that Jordan has translated to the character and in this regard, more of his personal experience is shown in the character that he portrays. Even though the work has been tiring, he’s found time to appear with Matthew McConaughey, Ken Watanabe and Naomi Watts in “Sea of Trees.” This could be one of the reasons that he’s worn himself out. He’s young and resilient and it’s nice to see that he is spreading his wings and accepting new roles to add to his list of credits.
