Joy-Anna Duggar is a member of the Duggar family, who should be most familiar to TV viewers as the stars of 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On. In recent times, she has come to the media’s attention because she has gotten married to her fiance, Austin Forsyth. Here are five things that you may or may not have known about Joy-Anna Duggar:
The Marriage Will Be Featured on Counting On
People who follow the Duggars might be interested to know that Joy-Anna’s marriage will be featured on Continuing On, which is the spin-off of 19 Kids and Counting that started up when the first show was cancelled because of the allegations that the eldest Duggar son, Josh, had molested five girls. On the whole, this is unsurprising because Counting On is focused on the older Duggar children as they get married and move out of the Duggar home.
Appeared In Courageous
In 2011, Joy-Anna had a short appearance in Courageous along with the rest of the Duggar family. In brief, Courageous was an Independent Christian drama that had half of its cast and crew consist of members of the Sherwood Baptist Church while the rest were brought on to the project through auditions after receiving invitations. Jim Bob Duggar and seven of his sons were extras in a father-son 5K race scene, while Joy-Anna and the other Duggar daughters were extras in a funeral scene.
Favorite Bible Character Is Joseph
When asked, Joy-Anna responded that her favorite Biblical figure is Joseph. Presumably, this means the Joseph of the Book of Genesis, who was sold as a slave by his brothers before becoming a vizier in Egypt, thus resulting in the departure of Israel from Canaan and their subsequent settlement in Egypt. People who are unfamiliar with the story might be more familiar with Joseph and the Amazing Techni-Color Dreamcoat, which is a loose adaptation written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
Twice the Reason to Celebrate
The Duggar family had two reasons to celebrate the day of Joy-Anna’s marriage. First, Joy-Anna got married. Second, one of her brothers, Joe, proposed to his girlfriend, Kendra Caldwell, during the celebrations. As a result, people who follow the Duggars can expect another marriage sometime in the not so distant future.
May or May Be Part of the Quiverfull Movement
Technically, the Duggars have stated that they are not associated with Quiverfull, but there can be no doubt that their values are quite similar to those of the movement. Examples of similarities range from the insistence on homeschooling to the refusal to use contraception, which is based on the idea that it usurps the prerogative of God, who decides when a woman does and doesn’t become pregnant during sex. In fact, the name of the movement is a reference to Psalm 127:4, which states that a man is happy when he has many children in much the same way that a mighty man is happy when he has many arrows in his quiver.
