David Fincher Actually Uses Way More CGI Than You Think

David Fincher happens to be one of my favorite directors out there.  Not only do I think his films are more original than at least 95% of the films we see out there but the way in which he tells a story always winds up being incredibly poignant and not to mention always takes you for a loop at some point.   Of all the directors out there many consider Fincher to be one of the “purest” meaning he’s not necessarily caught up in technology, crazy visuals, or anything that big budget films tend to gross so much money for.   That’s just not Fincher’s style.  Fincher is a storyteller first, and probably an effects man last.

The only time you’ll catch Fincher going crazy with effects is only when said effects are almost “necessary” or part of the story.  Think of a movie like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.  That would have been pretty tough to do without CGI.   But as it turns out Fincher’s pretty sneaky with CGI and uses it way more than you think and he also does it in very unconventional ways.

This video below goes into detail about another facet of Fincher’s deception as a director and it’s pretty awesome.
