Caitlyn Jenner is far and away the most famous transgender in the world and she made waves when first telling the world that she was a woman. Formerly known as Bruce Jenner, Olympic Gold Medalist, father of the Kardashian and Jenner clan, and all around “masculine” guy, Jenner shocked the world when she broke the news that she identified as female. It led to a humongous movement in the world to support transgenders and create an awareness that this is not a small or insignificant part of the population. Despite Jenner’s change in dress, voice, getting hormonal therapy and essentially becoming a woman by all means with the exception of body parts, there were still skeptics out there.
Was this just a publicity stunt for ratings? Was it just another money maker for the Kardashians or ratings booster for Caitlyn’s reality show “I am Cait?” I think those close to Jenner know that couldn’t be farther from the truth but if you’re not in Caitlyn’s inner circle it’s easy to be left doubtful.
However, Jenner, 67 just revealed that in her new book The Secrets of My Life that she underwent gender reassignment surgery in January. When asked about it, Jenner said,
“I just want to have all the right parts. I am also tired of tucking the damn thing in all the time.” She finished: “You want to know, so now you know. Which is why this is the first time, and the last time, I will ever speak of it.”
If anyone had any doubts about Jenner’s commitment to being a women (and that’s not even the right way to put it because she IS a woman), those doubts should surely be lifted now.
Caitlyn Jenner: The Secrets of My Life is set for UK release on April 27
