If there was one element that definitely lacked in Batman Vs. Superman and Suicide Squad (and certainly Man of Steel), it was humor. It was all by design and I honestly think that years from now people may very well look at those movies as “before their time” because frankly, look at Logan. Logan took the serious tone and just made a much much better movie than those two. I bring up Logan because Wonder Woman is said to be decidedly more humorous and light than it’s DCEU predecessors.
“I think there’s funny things in both of those films but we definitely went for making a funny film,” director Patty Jenkins told ComicBook.com. “I was always basing it on Superman and on Indiana Jones. I wanted to make a classic film where you’re laughing and then you’re in love with them and then they’re off on a fun great adventure. It’s definitely the point and the pursuit of our film.” Jenkins said that her goal with the movie was to create a “grand film,” that pulled in lots of different elements, all of which were integral to Diana’s story. “I hope there’s a little of something for everyone,” she said.
I hope so too. Personally I think if you’re moving more in the direction of Marvel then you’re making the right decision. Nothing wrong with changing style. Look how well it’s worked for Iron Man. Plus a woman as attractive as Gal Gadot will make the movie that much more entertaining if she can pull off comedy in addition to being a serious, strong, beautiful figure.
