Tina Fey To White Women Who Voted For Trump: “It’s Going to Affect You Eventually”

If there’s one thing Tina Fey will never do, it’s apologize for her views on just about anything.  And she certainly won’t apologize for making jokes or any other comedic references.  So it came as no surprise that Fey was adamant about a particular political issues this weekend.  Fey partook in a group conversation at the Stand for Rights: A Benefit for the ACLU on Friday.  In particular she took aim against white, female voters who supported Trump during the election, explaining that these voters shouldn’t turn a blind eye just because some issues don’t immediately affect them

“A lot of this election was turned by white, college-educated women who now would maybe like to forget about this election and go back to watching HGTV,” she explained. “I would want to urge them to like, ‘You can’t look away,’ because it doesn’t affect you this minute, but it’s going to affect you eventually. Again, open two windows. Do watch HGTV. But … to not turn our attention away from what is happening.”

This isn’t the first time that Fey has spoke out against the Trump administration and it certainly won’t be the last.   In a comedic sense the comedian and writer has put together a list of movies and books to watch in order to “survive” the Presidency.  However, Fey always brings a serious message when she talks politics.  At the end of the benefit Fey had one final plea to the audience.

I personally would like to make my own pledge to college-educated white women to not look away, not pretend that things that are happening now won’t eventually affect me if we don’t put a stop to it.
