If I had to pick a favorite Michael Mann movie it would have to be Heat. It’s easily one of my favorite “Heist” movies of all-time not to mention “Cops chasing the bad guys” movies I’ve ever seen. The movie was nothing short of brilliant and there was rarely a moment that you weren’t completely captivated. It’s hard to believe the movie was released all the way back in 1995 but it completely holds up today.
Seeing Al Pacino pit against Robert De Niro in a film of this magnitude will never be replicated. Personally I thought Val Kilmer was the highlight of this movie but the casting for this film was brilliant. Remember when Tom Sizemore was awesome in the 90s? This is vintage Sizemore. Dennis Haysbert? Bet you forget he was in this film. Ashley Judd? Hank Azaria? Danny Trejo? Ted Levine? Even Natalie Portman was in this movie as a kid! Simply put, fantastic.
