Team Scorpion races to save Paige and Happy in this week’s episode of Scorpion. The team heads to a wind farm to repair a turbine. As the repairs are close to completion, the cable that supports the gondola Paige and Happy are in suddenly snaps. Yeah, not good.
I applauded Paige’s quick thinking to use one of the routines she learned on the cheer squad at school to help her and Happy climb the cable. That, and Walter’s idea to electrocute the liaison and mechanical prodigy to ensure that they don’t slip. It resulted in second-degree burns on their hands, but it’s better than plummeting to their deaths.
Speaking of Paige, I get that she wants to help Happy plan the wedding, but she didn’t need to dive in head-first. She should’ve offered her services but will only help if Happy needs it. The liaison did so towards the end of the episode, of course. It would’ve saved her the emotional roller coaster if she had been more discreet about it from the beginning. On the other hand, if I were in Paige’s shoes, I would’ve done the same thing.
I also completely understood Happy’s reluctance to talk about the wedding plans. She’s not comfortable being the center of attention where she has to pretend to be someone that she’s not. That, and she’s not a “girlie” type of girl, which I totally agree with. Though her cheerleader comment to Paige on the gondola hurt. It’s like pouring salt on the wound, even though it was done inadvertently.
In happier news, it was amusing to see Walter, Sylvester, and Agent Gallo hound Toby about being the Best Man. Walter thinks it should be him because he’s Toby’s boss. The human calculator and Homeland agent, on the other hand, don’t seem to think so. I almost face-palmed when Walter showed Toby his hands, suggesting that he be the one to present the wedding rings at the ceremony. When Toby listed off the criteria for his potential Best Man, I immediately thought that he would pick Paige because if it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t have a Happy to marry. At least Walter, Sylvester, and Agent Gallo are now the Dudes of Honor. Then again, I can so see the three of them argue over every single thing.
A few side notes here, my heart went out to Sylvester when he handed Agent Gallo the Windsor Cape. He wanted to invite the latter to meet his friends and become a fictional knight. The Homeland agent should’ve known that this is Sylvester’s way to keep their friendship alive after losing the Alderman election. As Agent Gallo turned Sylvester’s invitation down, it almost made me tear up. In the end, on the advice from Happy of all people, the Homeland agent donned the cape (and a Viking helmet) and joined Sylvester and his friends.
I’m also beyond glad to see Waige get off to a good start as Walter and Paige work together to plan Toby and Happy’s wedding. Wedding Partners in Crime indeed! In the words of Barney Stinson, this is going to be legen…wait for it…dary! Oh, and did anyone find the whole gunshop owner recognizing the Stone of Valor somewhat awkward? I was sitting there going: okay…the guy is interested in what Sylvester is interested in…I have no words. The scene where Walter tried to crack a joke was awkward as well. O’Brien, just stick to the facts, okay, Mr. 197?
