White House press secretary Sean Spicer doesn’t exactly have the easiest life as of late but in all honesty this is his fault. When you take on the role of being the official “voice” of Donald Trump there’s little to no chance it’s going to go smoothly. Fresh off of making a wardrobe gaffe of American Flag proportions, Spicer couldn’t avoid getting reamed at a local Apple store over the weekend.
Shree Chauhan spotted Spicer at the store on Saturday night and began broadcasting on Periscope, peppering him with questions like “You work for a fascist, how do you feel about that?” and “What can you tell me about Russia?” While the video only lasted under a minute, it still generated considerable buzz on the internet.
During the exchange, Spicer initially responds calmly by saying, “We have a great country.” But it was an additional comment, “It’s such a great country that allows you to be here” – that infuriated Chauhan, who called Spicer’s response “racism” in a post on Medium.
“That is racism and it is an implied threat. Think about the sheer audacity of Mr. Spicer to say that to my face with a smile, knowing that he that he is being recorded on video and the position of power he holds in our government,” Chauhan, an Indian-American, said in her post of Spicer’s comment.
The White House hasn’t responded to calls about the incident and we don’t suspect they will. Just another notch in Spicer’s growing belt as press secretary.
