“Starry Night” is one of if not the most famous painting that Van Gogh ever produced. However, I think even Van Gogh himself would be pretty impressed if he got to see an artist recreate his masterpiece on water. That’s right. An artist painted Starry Night on water. Turkish artist Garip Ay used a technique is known as Ebru or Paper marbling. It is a method of aqueous surface design which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other kinds of stone. The patterns are the result of color floated on either plain water or a viscous solution known as size, and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric. To be honest I’m not the biggest art buff but I can honestly say that I’ve never seen anyone paint on water before and this video is absolutely breathtaking. It’s not often you get to see something you’ve never seen before and I guarantee that many of you out there reading this haven’t seen an art project quite like this.
