I couldn’t be happier for Alexander Siddig has he was just cast in FOX’s Gotham as none other than Ra’s Al Ghul. Siddig is a veteran actor who’s played nearly every role imaginable on television. He’s over 50 years old now and his gruff, experienced look should be a fine edition to the show. I think he’s gonna nail it. Here’s the official character bio for Siddig’s role.
As Bruce (David Mazouz) pulls the veil off the Court of Owls, he finds the man pulling the strings is the enigmatic and powerful RA’S AL GHUL. With his past shrouded in mystery, Ra’s Al Ghul uses cunning and deception to lay waste to his foes. As the leader of an international criminal organization known as the LEAGUE OF SHADOWS, Ra’s Al Ghul will prove himself to be Bruce’s most dangerous adversary yet.
What we don’t know about the character is if this Ra’s Al Ghul will be more comic based or more based on Liam Neeson’s Ra’s Al Ghul from Batman Begins. Either way I think it was a fine casting choice. However, long before Alexander Siddig was getting regular roles on television shows like 24, Atlantis, Game of Thrones, and Primeval, he got his start on the show Star Trek: The Next Generation. Remember?
In fact back in the early 90s he went by the name Siddig El Fhalil. Anyway, this is a young Dr. Bashir in an intimate moment. Siddig would later reprise that role as a regular on Star Trek: Deep Space nine. I love clips like this. Classic.
