While Suicide Squad didn’t receive the most glowing reviews from critics and fans, the movie still did manage to get an Oscar nominee for best makeup and hairstyling. While the producers probably wished for a couple hundred more million dollars at the box office, they’ll take what they can get here. However, there’s another element that did have moviegoers and Halloween costumer wearers excited: the wardrobes of the cast. It seems that 90% of women in the United States went as Harley Quinn during Halloween didn’t it?
Now, newly released concept art photos from Andrew Hunt reveal a different side to some of the characters. Initially it appears as though The Joker’s tattoos would have been featured more as evidenced by a photo of him wearing just a tie. With regard to Harley Quinn, her getup is more reminiscent of who she is in the DC Universe. However, we could very well see this getup in Gotham City Sirens.
While Suicide Squad wasn’t the best attempt at putting the DC Universe on screen, it doesn’t seem the studios and producers are ready to give up trying just yet. It’s kind of like how studios will just continue to try and get a video game movie right. One day they’ll do it and each attempt seems to be getting a bit closer.
You can’t take a concept like The Suicide Squad and just give up. There’s too much potential here.
