Hulu Renews The Mindy Project for Season 5 and The Path for Season 2

The Mindy Project

Hulu handed out a pair of renewals Wednesday, ordering new seasons of its comedy The Mindy Project and its drama The PathMindy Kaling’s FOX-turned-Hulu sitcom will return for a fifth season, while The Path, executive-produced by Friday Night Lights‘ Jason Katims, will be back for Season 2.

Furthermore, TVLine reports that Chris Messina, who plays Mindy’s current ex, Danny, on The Mindy Project, is listed as a series-regular cast member on Hulu’s official press release for the show’s Season 5 renewal. While many fans have worried that Messina’s decreased amount of screentime in Season 4 would lead to the actor officially departing the series, this announcement appears to debunk those theories. In addition to Kaling and Messina, The Mindy Project stars Ed Weeks, Ike Barinholtz, Beth Grant, Xosha Roquemore, and Fortune Feimster.

Meanwhile, The Path stars Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Michelle Monaghan (True Detective), and Hugh Dancy (Hannibal) and centers on a man who joins a controversial, Scientology-like cult after suffering from a crisis of faith. The Path is in the seventh week of its 10-episode freshman season, and it will air its Season 1 finale on Hulu on Wednesday, May 25.
