In last night’s all-new Dancing With the Stars, the contestants went back home with songs that celebrated their family, friends, and…. homes! It was really nice to see the stars reminisce about their lives because you could tell it made them feel more comfortable and relaxed. Take Kim and Tony, for example. In the first week, she was so uptight and nervous, and this week, she had a huge smile on her face throughout her entire dance. Carrie Ann even commented that, “You showed us you are in the game!” Yeah, a few dancers made some mistakes, but they were comfortable enough this week to be able to push past them. I didn’t even see Nick slide on his shoes. I only noticed it when Julianne pointed it out to me!
What I did notice actually was the judges’ table! First, it seemed like Julianne was giving out the low scores, just like Len used to. Also, and maybe it was just my imagination, they seemed to have a critique for every pair except for Alexa and Mark. This either means that every pair was below par or that Alexa was outstanding, which obviously wasn’t the case as seen by the scores.
Overall, I think Dancing With the Stars was pushing the contestants too far in their second week. I understand you need to have something for Tuesday’s show (maybe get rid of it entirely for a little bit?), but this is forcing the contestants to do more than they should. One of the contestants said that they had four days to learn two dances. That’s tough. That may be fine further down the road but not in the second week. Now the show’s either going to have beat that with three dances in one week or look not as exciting with just two dances a week.
We also got our first elimination of the season on last night’s Dancing With the Stars, and it was the end of road for Chaka and Keo. It’s really too bad for Keo, who has never made it past the third round on the show, andChaka was a good sport about it. She praised everyone she’d met on the show and how she did Keo a great disservice. I can understand why Chaka is legendary in her field and it’s sad to see her go. Truthfully, there were a few other couples who could’ve gone that I would’ve been fine with seeing leave.
Tune in tomorrow for an all new dance, an all new time, and all new episode of Dancing With the Stars!
