One of the biggest shows on The CW and one of the most important series in the comic book television genre right now is Arrow. As you may have seen at last week’s San Diego Comic-Con, the upcoming fourth season of Arrow is going to be a brighter and different year for the show, as Oliver begins his transition from the Arrow into the Green Arrow. One of the new heroes to rise from the third season of the series was Oliver’s little sister, Thea Queen (played by Willa Holland), who developed into her destined role as Speedy and is now one of Starling City’s great protectors.
TVOvermind was fortunate enough to participate in the Arrow Press Room at San Diego Comic-Con with other news outlets at round tables where stars and producers from the show discussed what is coming up in Season 4. Holland was one of the people we got to talk to, and you watch the entire interview with her below. Here are some highlights:
When asked about Speedy’s next step in her heroic journey in Season 4: “Last time we saw her in Season 3, she was putting on a costume and helping out the team a little bit, so I’m feeling that we are going to see her starting out somewhere along those lines. But I don’t want anyone to forget that she was dumped in a Lazarus Pit and resurrected, and I can’t imagine that someone would come out on the other side of that really normal. So there may or may not be something crazy going on!”
Whether Thea is adjusting well or not to being part of Team Arrow: “I think so. I think that’s something she, from the moment she found out what was going on, kind of wanted to be part of and help out. She wanted to find a purpose in her life and this may be her purpose.”
What is the status of Thea and Malcolm’s father-daughter relationship: “We haven’t gotten that far as of right now, at least in what the producers have told me. But after all the things that Malcolm put her through last year, I definitely think it’s going to be a while until she has that perfect father-daughter relationship again. It’s definitely going to be taking a little while!” [Laughs]
Arrow Season 4 begins on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 8 p.m. on The CW. Stay tuned for more roundtable videos of the cast and producers in the next few days right here at TVOvermind.
