I’d just moved into a basement suite. Everytime I went out I would lock the deadbolt but not the door handle but when I came home a lot of the time the deadbolt would be unlocked and the door handle would be locked.
At first I thought I was just confused about which one I had locked so I started paying more attention. It kept happening and I realized someone must be going in when I went out. I assumed it was the landlady and was annoyed but didn’t say anything at first.
Then one day I came home and found the wrong lock locked again. I went in p***ed off and opened the fridge to get something to eat. There was a book in the fridge that I had never seen before. I collected old books and this one was published in the early 1900s which creeped me out completely because it was like it had been left for me.
I finally called my landlady and asked if she was going into my apartment and told her what had happened. She freaked right out, said the last person who lived there was a really creepy guy with mental health and d**g problems. She got all the locks changed that day and it never happened again.

Didn’t realize until years later that I was almost snatched.
Grew up in a small town. Out playing in the yard with my 2 younger siblings like every other summer day. Guy pulls up alongside the yard in a truck, calls me over. Asks my name, if I’m having a good summer. He says he could really use my help, he’s out looking for his lost puppy. He can show me a photo of the puppy if I come closer. No, closer. The picture is small, can I please help him? I yelled to my brother on the other side of the yard “Daaaaaan, come help us find a puppy!”
I have to assume he thought I yelled ‘dad’ because he noped / screeched out of there without another word.
I remember being really worried about that puppy…until we had an assembly at our primary school about things strangers might say to lure you into their vehicles.

This happened to a friend of mine.
It’s a Sunday. She comes home to her apartment from running errands around 1 pm. She was in med school at this time, so she pretty much parked herself at the kitchen table and studied for the next 5-6 hrs. She’s sitting there and looks up to see a dude casually stroll out of her bedroom. No other entrances, she’s sitting by the front door, so he’s been there the entire time she has been home. He pauses at the doorway to her kitchen, between her and the door. She basically froze. Then her phone rang and kind of startled both of them. She ran to get the phone, he ran out the door. She moved and got an enormous dog.
HE WAS IN HER APARTMENT THE WHOLE TIME. This is one of my biggest fears.

When I was a child I was always stricken by this irrational fear that when I went outside at night, I had to walk STRAIGHT into the house without looking back, because if I looked back, someone would be following me.
One day after dinner I went out to the car to get my bookbag, and I was continuing my ritual of walking straight inside without looking back, adrenaline pumping, anxiety going full force, and I just stopped and said to myself “this is stupid.” I made myself look back.
When I looked back I saw what appeared to be someone crouched down behind my mom’s car and was peeking their head around. They were just staring at me and smiling. It appeared to be a woman in her mid 30s, maybe 40 with curly short blonde hair. We made eye contact for a second and then she ducked back behind the car where I couldn’t see her.
I stood frozen for a second and then ran inside. I told my mom, we went outside to check, no one was there. My mom didn’t exactly not believe me, but she wasn’t very concerned either.

My mom and her friend were out and about late at night, heading to a party. Their car broke down, and being a rural town with a small population, they had to walk about a mile to the nearest house for help. They got to the front door, and of all people to answer the door, it was one of their high school teachers. He was horrified to see them out late at night, alone. He let them use his phone but scolded them saying it was not safe- the location, time and circumstances, he let them know they were absolute fools and heeded a somewhat vague warning. My mom called my grandfather to come bring gas and/or possibly tow their vehicle.
When the girls got back to their car, there was a severed cow head on the hood, blood everywhere! This was near Hermiston, OR, apparently well known for devil worshippers.

Posted this before, also my top comment of all time…
Rented a cabin for a week with my SO – first night there we had spent the day visiting her family (the actual reason for our trip), had dinner, she got pretty wasted. Get back to the cabin, carry my SO inside – to find all our bags opened/dumped onto the floor. This set me into panic mode.
I hadn’t been drinking and I routinely carry, so I pull out my g*n and sweep the house – I check every room, closets, even under the bed – nothing. My SO is still fast asleep, so I check our stuff over and there’s nothing missing. It had just been dumped onto the floor. So I look around some more, all the windows are locked, the backdoor was even d**d bolted.
It just really bothered me that there was no sign of break in. I know I locked the place before I left, so either someone else had a key to my cabin, or whoever it was was still inside the cabin. Either way, I didn’t think I’d do much sleeping.
It was too late to make other arrangements, and considering that most likely there wasn’t anything to worry about really. We had been gone all day, from 9am – midnight. So odds whoever it was did it was probably way earlier. But still… I couldn’t shake it. I went in and covered up my SO, used the bathroom, set up a rocking chair facing the front door – my hand on my g*n on my lap, I started watch.
I felt pretty silly sitting there, but I couldn’t not sit there either. And some time around 3-4am, I fell asleep.
I woke up the next morning around 7am, sun shining through. I actually half scared myself because I hadn’t meant to fall asleep – which then scared me again because I wasn’t holding my g*n. I start looking around, and on the couch is my g*n. I’m like What… then I look – the front door is wide open. I’m like.. NO F*****G WAY. I jump up and start running to check on my SO – thank God she was still there, untouched. I go back out into the living room and pick up my g*n, all my bullets are missing.
I go outside and look around, car and everything is still there – no signs of anybody. I walk back inside, look in the far corner of the living room and I see the corner of the main living room rug lifted up. I investigate – it’s covering the opening to the crawlspace.
That means this guy was IN MY CABIN THE ENTIRE TIME. I must have pulled up and caught the guy in the act, he thought fast and hid in the crawlspace. Then some time during the night, crawled out, DISARMED ME, and walked right out the front door.
TL:DR Rented a cabin, came back for the night found our stuff dumped on the floor. Put my SO to bed, stayed in the living room with my g*n incase they came back. Fell asleep. Woke up the next morning to my g*n on the couch, a hidden crawlspace door open, and the front door open. The person was hiding in the crawlspace the entire time – and worse, came out while I was sleeping and disarmed me.

Back in the 70s my grandfather dropped my grandmother, mom, and her 2 sisters off to do some shopping on his way to work. Since he wasn’t able to pick them up, they hitch hiked home.
My mom at the time was only around 10 or 11, middle sister would’ve been about 7 or 8 and the youngest was about a year old.
They get picked up by a guy in pick up truck, who has them all sit in the back row with one of them holding the baby. My grandmother was giving directions to their home from the highway, but the guy ignored her and went by their exit claiming he had to make a stop first. Didn’t really say much else to them during the drive, my mom remembers my grandmother being very quiet and very nervous.
Eventually they come up to a farm, driver tells them to wait in the car and goes inside the house. While he’s gone they just sit there terrified, they’re in the middle of nowhere and know they couldn’t make it out on foot. A few minutes later the driver comes out with a second guy who looks into truck and sees my mom’s youngest sister. He starts flipping out, screaming at the driver that he shouldn’t have brought the baby back, they aren’t going to do anything with her and some other things I can’t remember, ends up telling him to get them away from the farm.
Driver gets back into the truck, apologizes, and they get back on the highway and drive again in silence. My grandmother, normally a very smart woman, had him drive directly to their house (although I suspect her reasoning was she’d already given him the address before anything seemed off). They lived at that house for several years and luckily never saw either of them a second time.

I’ve been reading stories in this subreddit and I found an old album of pictures that reminded me of my own. I’m not a great story teller but I’ll try. There are links to pics and one to an album at the bottom.
I was 16 years old and I had just gotten my license. It was on a Friday after school, and I was hanging out with some of my friends from another school district, my girlfriend, and her best friend. We all live in small, rural towns that have absolutely nothing in a 40 mile radius except a Walmart in between and a couple Sheetz gas stations. Since there was nothing to do we used to go “ghost hunting”. It pretty much meant finding abandoned buildings and checking them out. None of us ever really expected to experience anything supernatural but it was an interesting time and it involved doing something with friends. I had seen a house off of a highway a few times that I wanted to check out so I told them all about it. They all agreed it was a good idea.
We all decided to stop at Walmart to grab some new flashlights of our own, and I wanted batteries for my camera. Two of my friends and I bought a flashlight and a 2 pack of batteries each, and I bought a 4 pack for my camera. We have a habit of keeping the batteries that come with flashlights as emergency backups because they don’t seem to last long. Armed with new flashlights, batteries, and energy drinks, we headed to the house.
The house was 2 stories tall with a basement, all broken down, and was about a half a mile off the highway in the middle of a huge field. You could pretty much see it on the hill the whole hike. Just seeing it standing there with moonlight shining on it was creepy let alone the idea of going in it. There was also a barn that had fallen down about 50 yards from the right side. The closer and closer we walked, the weirder and weirder it felt. Hair raising weird. The front porch steps were broke so we had to climb up to the porch to get in. Stepping over the debris from other people busting the place up, we made our way in.
On the way through the living room to the kitchen my girlfriend claimed she felt someone pulling the hood on her sweatshirt, but I was the last person and I was several feet behind. I figured she was either so scared she was imagining things, or just saying stuff to try and freak everyone out. We made our way around the kitchen and were on our way upstairs and she gasped and spun around, claiming she felt her hood pulled again, and that I was an a*****e for trying to scare her. I swore it wasn’t me and we continued up taking pictures all the way.
We all made it to the top of the stairs and I saw a big hole in the attic, so I started walking toward it to take a picture. I snapped one on the way to it and then another a little closer. The attic stairs were in a room to the left and there was a hallway with rooms off it it to the right. We all went to the attic first to check it out, which all that was up there was an old wooden ladder and a broken crate. We walked back down to the second floor all disappointed.
At that point I was the only one with a flashlight out so everyone followed me through the hallway to a room on the end at the left. It seemed really breezy in the room compared to the rest of the house even though there were broken open windows all through it. After the last person was about three steps in, my flashlight went out. It was still turned on but seemed like it went d**d. The first thing I thought was, “there’s no way these brand new batteries went d**d in 20 minutes in an LED flashlight.” Almost instantly after, I heard, “My phone’s d**d” “Yeah mine too” from my girlfriend and her best friend. One by one my other friends pulled out their flashlights, flicked them on and off, and nothing happened. I pulled my camera out of my pocket to take a picture with the hope of maybe catching something weird, but the screen was black with a flashing red “d**d battery” symbol. At that point we were all weirded out and practically fighting each other to get out of the room.
Once we made it to the stairs the flashlights worked again, my camera had about 3/4ths of a battery bar, and the cell phones were able to be turned back on. I got goosebumps and tensed up and we hastened our pace down the stairs and figured the easiest way out would be through the basement door we saw under the porch on the way in since the porch stairs were broken. Sadly it wasn’t the least creepy way.
We made our way down through the basement that turned out to be a basic maze and looked like it could have been in the Blair Witch Project. We fought our way through the vines that had grown over the door to the outside and made our way away from the house. About 200 yards from the house, we heard what sounded like a tin food can being spiked on the ground, and then rolling down the basement steps. I don’t even remember seeing a tin can anywhere in the house. We all started running as fast as we could while being careful not to trip over something in the high weeds.
Once we got back to the car and tried to theorize what the hell just happened, I started looking through all the pictures. They all just looked like dust particle ridden pictures of an old house, except for one. When I snapped the 2 pictures of the attic the first was just like all the others, but the second had a thick, white, smokey mist over the hole. It wasn’t cold (just a coolish night) so there couldn’t have been breath mist, and no one smoked.
To this day I get goosebumps and glassy eyes every time I look through these pictures. I posted them to a forum for people into paranormal investigating, and everyone told me I had an interesting experience they wish they had, and a very interesting picture.

When I was 7, my mother who adopted me when I was born, as a single parent, died from breast cancer. I was adopted again by her sister (aunt and uncle). I sometimes hear knocks on the walls when I sleep. I’ve also, while playing video games, heard footsteps on the stairs late into the night. I’ve never really been afraid, because most of the time I think it’s nothing. But my mother died in the house. Maybe she watches over me. Who knows. She saved me from abortion. Maybe she’s saved me from other things too.

Have posted this before, but for anyone interested: I used to live in a rented house that sat across the street from a fairly bustling city park. At night, when the park was deserted, I would walk out my front door and sit on my porch and look at the trees and the stars. One night, around 1am, I opened the front door and started to sit down. That’s when I saw a man standing in the deserted park. He was directly in front of my house. The man was dressed all in black and was wearing a Halloween skull mask. The mask seemed fairly intricate but was most definitely a store bought cheapo. The sight of this guy sent a chill down my spine. He didn’t move at all–although I know he saw me. The entire neighborhood was silent and still and we just paused there holding our ground. We watched each other for a long time and then he sauntered away. I ended up calling the cops because I figured this guy was casing the neighborhood. Cops came, took my statement. Nothing ever came of it. Couple of months later, I’m doing some yard work around the side of my house. I’m pulling a huge tangle of weeds out from a thicket underneath my kitchen window. I see something that looks like trash, pick it up: it’s the mask I saw that night
EDIT: Again, sorry to anyone who has read this before! So many good ones on here I’d hate to waste your time. And no I didn’t keep the mask, I don’t have any pictures either. By the time I saw the mask in my yard it was pretty much destroyed from weather, etc. I eventually moved within the year and never saw the guy again.

Here’s something creepy I ended up doing.
Some context: my senior year of HS a bunch of the senior class decided to play a game, the name of which escapes me right now. Basically, everyone (around 30 people) starts at point A on one side of town. Roughly half of those people have to move on foot to point B on the other side of town. The other half of the people wait 10 minutes. Then they pair up and get in cars, driving around looking for people who left on foot and the passenger gets out to “tag” them.
I was one of the passengers in this game. Me and the person driving spotted a girl. We drove a little ahead of her and I sprinted out of the car, chasing this girl for about half a block before I realized she was easily out running me.
Fast forward about 20 minutes, and I’m at point B looking for this girl to give her props. Looking around, I can’t seem to find her. I ask the person who I was in the car with who she was but my friend didn’t recognize her either. “I thought you knew who she was.”
From that girls perspective: she was out jogging when a random car stopped ahead of her. An unfamiliar guy runs out of the passenger seat and chases her for a bit.
I was the creep.

10 years ago. I was 18 years old. As I was taking a shower and washed my hair, with every washing motion I pulled out more and more of my own hair until I was bald. No reason, no warning, nothing, just the pure horror of pulling out hands full of hair. The drain clogged with my hair as I silently stared in the mirror across the room at my own bald head. It felt like i was falling apart. Mentally and physically. I honestly thought I would die that day.
It was sudden auto-immune disease. Alopecia over night. It was scary as hell. The weeks after I lost all my body hair as well. My hair never returned and I am very okay with it now, but I can never ever forget that moment in the shower…

Me and my fiancé saw a guy on the side of the road asking for a ride. I told her there was no way I’d pick up a male hitchhiker. She told me it was the right thing to do but I convinced her that we shouldn’t. Three days later he was arrested for m**dering the couple that picked him up.

Im 52. When I was about 8 years old, 5 other 8-10 year olds were in a kids bedroom playing. This one boy and me were wrestling around when someone turned off the lights. When the light went off there was a loud pop. Another kid had found a pistol and fired it. I was laying on the bedroom floor. The bullet missed my head by 2 inches. It was a straight down sh*t that narrowly missed.

When I was 15-16, my mom put me on “diet pills” (still don’t know what they are) that let me get away with just eating a tiny cup of soup the whole day and be ok with sleeping less than 3h daily. I got hooked on them because I could study way more.
I guess the sleep deprivation finally caught up one night, and I started having auditory hallucinations. It started with white noise, then morphed into what sounded like a garbled shouting argument between a bunch of people and started echoing until it became a man with a deep, sinister laugh laughing hysterically.
The rational part of me figured it’s auditory hallucinations but holy c**p it was petrifying and I could feel every hair standing up.
Then another part of me just thought, “Well, if it’s not a hallucination and I’m actually going to get m**dered by bloodthirsty ghosts, at least I don’t have to take the test tomorrow.”
I continued studying.
Asian schools were tough.

I was about 9 laying in bed watching snow fall out of a window that faced the back yard. Suddenly a man’s face popped up just inches from my window staring right at me. I still remember his beard coated in ice and his steamy breath. After a few seconds I unfroze and ran into my mom’s room. She thought I was making it up and sent me back to my room, I hid so I couldn’t see out of the window. The next morning when we left for school there were footprints in the fresh snow that straight went back to my window.

My family were driving on the rural main road of Poland (we’re Polish) and next to our car was this truck delivering large concrete pipes. We drove next to this truck for maybe an hour, maybe two. I was a teenager so I didn’t really care.
My dad figures we stop at the next gas station for a quick toilet break. As I exit the car, a pair of bikes drive past the gas station. I noticed because it was loud as f**k.
Pee pee over and we go back on the road. About a mile or so down the road there’s an accident. The bikes had caught up with the truck and as they were about to drive past it the large concrete pipes fell off the truck and smushed the bikers. Maybe they weren’t fastened properly, or the truck swerved. I’m not sure but they were d**d. Blood everywhere. I still have a hard time thinking of what could’ve happened.
Tl;dr survived some real final destination s**t.

When I was about 9 or 10, my older brother and I had a few friends over to stay the night. My Dad had to work the next day so we were all left at the house by ourselves for the day. We were excited to play playstation all day on our Saturday off. Well my Dad worked late that night (until probably 8 or 9). As soon as the sun went down we went into one of the rooms upstairs to play Uno.
Fast forward 30 minutes and we start hearing footsteps slowing walking up the wooden stairs. My dad wasn’t going to be home for another 2 hours so we didn’t know who it was. There were four of us, me, my brother, my friend, and his friend. We would take turns walking out of the room to see what it was but before we could look down the dark stairs we would hear what sounded like someone running down the stairs as fast as they could so they couldn’t be seen. This continued for probably 2 hours ending with all of us huddled in the room upstairs with the door wedged shut with a chair until my Dad got home.
None of us were really believers in anything paranormal but a child’s imagination is a crazy thing. Now 15 years later, I still don’t know what to make of it but every one of us heard those footsteps walking up those dark stairs. I bring it up to my friend who I’m still friends with and he remembers it just as vividly as I do. It kind of creeps me out just thinking about it.

My wife and I rented an old townhouse in Birmingham, AL about 10 years ago. It was spooky for no other reason other than it was old and in the woods. (We are both suburban Californians so this was enough to freak us out a little)
We used to joke that there was a “presence” in the house, but after a while we started experiencing strange things. When you would leave the kitchen after grabbing a snack, all the cabinets would be closed, but if you returned a few minutes later, all of the cabinets would be wide open. Freaky, but just annoying.
Later on things escalated. My wife would come home late after roller derby practice and we had very steep steps that led up to our door, being the consider husband that I was I would be sure to turn on the porch light so she wouldn’t trip. Something often would turn the light back off (old style breaker switch on the wall, had to put some force behind flipping it). This caused my wife to once seriously trip coming to the door late at night.
My wife complained often that she felt unsafe when I was working late and she was alone, and we began to realize whatever was in the house didn’t like her specifically. Walking to the bathroom late at night and passing the hall mirror, we both spotted a disfigured woman in the reflection. I thought I was hallucinating when I first saw it, but after a few times of it occurring I mentioned it to my wife, who freaked out and told me she had seen the same thing too in the past.
Over the next year or so I would sometimes have nightmares about the woman I had seen and would wake up next to my wife and would jostle around, a few times this would wake my wife too and she would respond “go back to sleep, it’s just a dream, I saw her too.”
The pinnacle of the event was late one night my wife came home and started screaming at me for no apparent reason, leveling nonsensical accusations and just being mean. I was in the middle a writing a paper due the next morning so I told her I was not going to deal with and she should go to bed. She turned off all the lights except in the downstairs den where I was working and went upstairs to bed. An hour later I finished my paper and went to bed. When I got to the bottom of the stairwell leading to our bedroom, I turned on the light and was shocked to see my wife sitting at the top of the stairs (in what had been the complete dark). She just stared down at me and I swear to God her eyes were completely black and her strawberry blond hair had been bleached completely white. I was scared more than I’ve ever been in my life but slowly walked up the stairs to her. When I got to the top her eyes and hair turned normal and she began sobbing, saying that something was attacking her and she was filled with hate. We held each other through the night. And talked about it several times after. My wife is convinced she was possessed. I believe she was as well.
We live in California again and have been married for 8 1/2 years, nothing has ever happened like that again.
TL;DR: haunted house/possession.

It was 2001 and my friend and I were 17 (both female) and driving back from a late movie to my house one night. I lived in a pretty rural area in Maine, about 20 minutes from the nearest town.
As we were driving down the highway through the woods, we passed a median with a car sitting in it, facing in the oncoming direction, with all its lights off. Right after we drove past it, it flashed its lights, did a 3 point turn and started driving behind us. We giggled that “oh, it must be a gang initiation, we’re gonna get m******d!” because this was Maine and that was obviously not what was happening.
The turnoff for my road was a few miles away and this car stayed behind us the whole time. We made the left turn and the car kept going down the highway. Phew! But 30 seconds later we realized that the car must have backed up on the highway and made the turn after us. Now we were getting a little worried. There was still one more road to turn down before we got to my house (this is way in the woods) and the car did the same thing…backed up and made the left after us. Now we were legit freaked.
I had a long driveway and the car followed us right into the driveway and almost up to my house, which had all the lights on because my mom was home. We ran into my house, just in time to see the mystery car reverse back down the driveway and drive away.
To this day we still have no idea why that car was following us – if they thought we were someone else or if they actually had bad intentions and only changed their mind when they saw that my houselights were on. Since we only ever saw the front of the car, we didn’t get a license plate or a better description than “a blue car”.

My Baby sitter was k****d back in the mid 80’s when I was about 6-7 years old. they found her body in a garbage bag near a dept store and never found the k**ler.
No one knew anything about it. no witnesses, no clues and this was a smaller city of about 50K people. so when a crime happens word travels fast.

When I was around 14 years old, I really liked to go for runs with my shepherd x lab. I lived in a fairly quiet, clean suburban neighborhood that was situated beside a broad expanse of pasture used by about ten horses (I would say it was roughly 40 acres). Anyway, a bike path ran between the pasture and my neighborhood and I generally ran down the path. One night I decided to go with my pup around 10:00 pm. May not seem like the smartest decision, but I had spent many nights with my group of friends biking/rollerblading around the neighborhood so I thought nothing of the late hour. I was running down the bike path with my dog, who is a a big pup yet the friendliest guy you’ll meet. As we ran I noticed a dark lump a little ways ahead, and because it was nearly pitch black I could barely see it. I dismissed it as a garbage bag. As we drew closer, my dog perked up his ears and his hackles went up and he started to growl…which he rarely ever does. He loves basically everything. I stopped running and stared as the ‘garbage bag’ started to move. 14 year old me still didn’t really know what the heck I was looking at, and it wasn’t until the supposed garbage stood up that I realized it was a man…who then started to run towards us! My dog then turned around and, I kid you not, started to run and yanked me along behind him. We reached a street, he darted down it, then pulled me into a dark alley, onto another street, then another alley, then another street, until we somehow lost the guy. My dog saved my life, I’m pretty sure. The guy may not have been an axe m******r but it turns out some creepy ex felon was arrested in our neighborhood about two days later. I love my dog.

Several years ago I lived in a semi-underground basement apartment. Basically the house was just enough underground that the windows were just a couple of inches off the ground on the outside.
So one night I’m washing dishes in the kitchen which had a window to my left which was open. I’m almost finished when a voice whispers, “Looking good there with the dishes.” There was someone crouched down by the window on the outside who had been watching me for who knows how long. Unfortunately for creep boy I was washing the knives, and as I turned he evidently got scared by the gigantic chef’s knife I was brandishing in his general direction and he ran off.
I hated that apartment. Eventually I tacked thick fabric over most of the windows to avoid having to watch people p*e drunkenly on them.

This happened to my friends, but its quite creepy.
In 2009 a friend of mine was coming home from a different city at 11pm with his father and 2-3 kms before entering the city, they suddenly saw a white horse standing in the middle of road. He tried to save the horse and severed the car into the ditch below road. As they got out of car, there was no horse to be seen anywhere. He told me this the next day and we found it creepy.
Fast forward to 2015, some other friends of mine were coming home from a different city at 1:30am and doing 140km/hr. They reach the same place near the city border and suddenly see the same white horse standing in the middle of the road. Driver weighed in his options and decided its just best not try to turn. He hit brakes hard and the car just went straight through the horse, skidding. They came to a stop and realised it was a ghost horse or something and ran home. Told me about this the next day we talked.
Weird thing is, either of these friends never met each other and there is 6 years difference between both occurrences.

Once as a teenager, I was leaving a fast food drive-thru and someone in an old bronco started to follow me. At first I thought it was a road rage situation and did the “sorry” wave, and tried to let him pass but he swerved at me like he was trying to hit my car. He pulled up alongside of me and was screaming out the window, just incoherently furious, continuing to swerve at me.
This was before the days of cell phones and I was in an unfamiliar area of town. I was driving a Firebird and tried to outrun him, but he would run red lights and make crazy turns to keep up with me. I eventually ran into a d**d end and he pulled his truck across the road to block it. There were big ditches on either side so I was stuck.
He got out and started scrambling at my door handle (doors locked) and pounding on the windows, his face inches from mine just screaming and screaming in a way that seemed like he couldn’t even quite see me. Shaking and crying, I turned on my overhead light so he could see I was just a teenage girl and not who he was looking for and he jumped on my hood and started pounding (and drooling in thick, white smears) on my windshield.
I was screaming and crying and he stopped, held up one finger like “wait a minute” and scurried off to his truck. I floored the gas and ran into the ditch and drove like a crazy person for 45 minutes until I knew I had lost him.
No idea what his deal was. My mom thought I made up this entire story to lie about the damage to my car, and still seems hesitant to believe me…

When my wife was in college, she took a philosophy class or something. On the first day everyone announced who they were etc. turns out she was sitting next to a police officer who was taking the class for continuing education or a promotion (can’t remember, but he was actively a police officer). This was really great for her because she’s small and it was a night time class.
They became friends ish (as much as two people sitting next to each other for a few classes are) he agreed to walk her to her car after class since the school wasn’t in the best area and it made her feel safe.
Around mid terms he stops showing up. She’s kind of confused, but figured life happens and something else probably came up.
A few weeks later we’re at her parents house and her mom asks if we had heard about the police officer that had been arrested. We hadn’t so she begins to fill us in on this police officer that had been pulling women over and raping them in their cars.
We live in a small town, but it gets super rural super fast if you leave, so nobody is passing these scenes as they’re happening.
Anyway, turns out that the officer r***ng women was the same guy that was walking her to her car after class every week and the reason he wasn’t in class was because he had been arrested.

Not as mysterious and/or creepy as some others on here but scared the hell out of me. I was at a park when I was about 9 years old with my sister and her boyfriend at the time. They were walking around the walking track while I played on the playground. We had the park pretty much to ourselves since it was a weekday evening. A middle aged man came up by himself and started talking to me on the playground, getting closer and closer all the while, making me more and more nervous. Eventually, my sister and her boyfriend come in sight on the track and at this point the dude asks if it was my parents and I told him no, it was my sister. He then made an abrupt excuse to leave and took off.

When my mom was in college back in her country, there was this one guy that everyone avoided like a plague. It all started when he went up to someone randomly on campus and told them with a straight face, “Your dad is going to d*e in a car accident next week.”
And their dad did d*e in a car accident the following week.
People passed it off as a creepy coincidence, like a bad joke that turned out to be correct. But then he did it to someone else. He cornered a classmate after class and told her, with the same deadpan voice, “Your mom will get stomach cancer soon.” A while later, that girl’s mother was diagnosed with that specific type of cancer.
It went on like that, with each time this guy being right, until no one would talk to him anymore. When people saw him coming, they’d veer off in the opposite direction. They were scared of him. No one knew if he was just predicting these events or actually causing them to happen. But the things he predicted were always bad.

Ok, this isn’t supernatural creepy, it’s just weird creepy thinking about this happening to a person, possibly even yourself.
I was acquaintances with an engineer who worked with a friend of mine. He had a bad drinking problem, compounded by the fact that he was one of those people who could drink for hours and appear relatively sober, then suddenly just be slobbering drunk. Bars would overserve him because of this.
One night in winter, well below freezing temperatures, he did this. The bartender notices how drunk he’s suddenly acting, and cuts him off. He gives him a water and calls a cab, but has to take care of other customers also. When the cab gets there, the drunk guy is nowhere to be found. He’d slipped out and drove off.
On the way home, he put his car in the ditch. In his drunken stupor, he got out to walk, and ended up slipping down a creek bank. At that point, he apparently just curled up around a tree and went to sleep.
When they found him the next morning, he was just a solid block of ice, frozen to d***h. An engineer, in a suburb of a moderately large town, in the most modern country in the world, and you can still d*e from exposure.

I think the creepiest thing that I’ve ever heard is from my Grandpa. Until about the time Communism was beginning to end in my country (about [1988]) he lived on a farm with Grandma (I would say this was maybe 20 kilometers from the city). There was weird car that kept on just sitting on the road next their farm that split their property from the neighbors. There were always 2 people in the car, sitting all night long, my grandpa clearly remembered the cigarette smoke flowing from the car on cold days.
My grandpa came up to the car one day and recognized by their hats they were SB, and left without bothering them. Anyway, some weird things were happening in that whole area, animals were stolen once in awhile, and the strange car appeared around a time where some drunks were going missing in our area [3 people]. Some people thought they just fell asleep in the snow and got buried.
One night he heard creaking downstairs, when he went down no one was there but the door was open and you can see wet tracks through the kitchen [apparently the weird thing was that they had a chain on that door, and it was opened without breaking]. A few weeks later, during the night again my grandparents heard g*n s**ts coming from the next farm over, followed by a bunch of SB (Communist secret police) cars. After that the weird car stopped showing up, and apparently the farm next to my grandparents was home to some small cult that was suspected of using people for weird sacrifices and experiments [this info he got from a friend who worked in the Police, they found a small weapons cache and some remains in one of the barns that were dismembered in a “peculiar” fashion, not sure what that meant really].
My grandpa still thinking that night someone came into the house it was one of the SB making sure nothing weird was inside, OR one of the creepy cultists trying to find another victim. They sold the farm 2 years later and never looked back.

TL;DR: DONT USE OUIJA BOARDS.
My mums side of the family were always big on the paranormal, tarot, seances contacting d**d relatives, psychics, the lot. Well a bit of background, most of my mums family never had kids, and her aunt (god knows what relation that is to me), went to a psychic when my mum was 10, and was told only one girl will be able to have kids in your family, there will be one child, they will be a boy, and they will be born after years of trying and failure. Things apparently went south though and all these seances stopped after one bad incident I was told.
Well, my mum grew up, met my dad, and after 14 years of trying to conceive almost gave up, but them I came along. (Even to this day I’m never on time to anything) Funny thing is no other relation ever managed to have kids, either by biology or failed marriages, so I’m the only one.
Anyway, I was about 15 at the time, and my mums aunt had died when I was like 6. All the relations including me were at a get together, and someone had found the old ouija board and tarot cards they used to use whilst clearing out their loft. For s***s and bants, everyone agreed to retry it and see if it still worked. (Exactly what you should do after quite a few drinks). So we all sat around the table with fingers on the planchette, and one of my relations started calling out for spirits and asking if anyone was there. (I was always hyper sceptical of all this, thinking someone pushes the glass its all fake so I was expecting nothing to happen, or someone to push it).
Anyway, all of a sudden the lights all flickered, and the atmosphere in the room changed. It felt like more people suddenly were present, like when you’re at a house party and a load more people turn up. The same relative, lets call her Jane then started asking who this person was etc etc, and how many spirits were there. Turns out 5 spirits were there, 3 old relations I’d never heard of, my mums aunt (the one who used to be into psychics and predicted my birth), and her d**d friend who used to know the family well. People were asking questions, the glass was doing its thing replying, people were asking questions nobody could know and getting exact responses. (we tested it by having the people who knew the answers remove their fingers and then confirm the answers if they were right). This was creepy, but kinda fun too, my mums aunt, (I always knew her as auntie myself) took quite an interest in me, apparently standing next to me, saying she always kept up with my school and all.
Now we’d been doing this for like an hour, then all of a sudden the lights flickered again, the room turned ICE COLD, and the atmosphere turned like, heavy (?). I’d describe it like, when you walk into a room whereby two people are having a massive argument and you just interrupted and its awk and you just wanna nope outta there. The planchette suddenly started going apes**t, flying all over the board going in circles really quickly, and we all wanted to stop cause it was getting apparently like it used to get, just too much, s**t was getting too real. So we packed it all up, and put it away, but the room remained colder than it should have been, and the atmosphere didn’t go back to how it was before (which was pretty lighthearted tbh!)
We all tried to get back to having fun but nobody was feeling it, it was just, a heavy, solemn feeling throughout the whole place. This feeling slowly grew over the course of the next hour or so, and it got to about 11.30pm, and jane outwardly comes out and says, we’re all thinking the same, something might be here with us that isn’t one of the family. By now, I’m s******g myself and dying to go home and never pull this s**t again, but nope, the ‘oldies’ who always used to do it, reason its best to get the board back out and see if we can talk to whatever is here. (I just remember distinctly thinking, WHY THE F*** WOULD YOU DO IT AGAIN OMG I WANNA GO HOME:( ) Anyway, the board comes back out, planchette back on, my finger has to go on the glass otherwise I’m not part of ‘the circle’ and I’m at risk of psychic attack (was not impressed), and jane asks, “Is there anybody here”, and the planchette starts going apes**t. After some further questions, we established it was a spirit named, Walter, who was not a family member, and was not a friend of any of the deceased relatives we were speaking to previously. It was a randomer, and that was scary. My aunt asks it (practically grovels), please, leave my house, and suddenly the lights flicker, the planchette FLIES off the table and smashes into the wall on the other side of room near the sink, and as soon as it smashed the taps turned on, and the lights all started flickering like mad.
By now, all of us are collectively s******g ourselves, my mum and nan are basically in tears, jane was crying, another relation was on her knees doing that cross symbol catholics do muttering to jesus and god for help. My grandad got up and stood right next to me and says it will be alright, this happened before and eventually it would be okay.
Then all of a sudden after what could have been nothing more than 15 seconds (but by god felt like a f*****g eternity), we all smelt a faint smell of perfume, the lights stopped flickering, and everything returned to normal, the heat of the room, the atmosphere, it was like in a horror film where it all just stops d**d.. It was f*****g creepy as f**k. We all just said our goodbyes and left, jane and her husband stayed in a hotel that night because they were too scared to even sleep there.
To say the least, we’ve never f****d with ouija boards or pendulums since. Im now a firm believer in all paranormal stuff, despite being brought up basically as an atheist. I later found out, the perfume we smelt was coco chanel, and it was a firm favourite of my mums aunt who we spoke to earlier in the evening, so we reasoned she must have shooed whatever it was away or some s**t. Either way, whenever my friends joke about ghosts or spirits, I practically launch into a 2 hour long lecture why we shouldn’t joke about it and nobody should mess with that. Let the d**d rest imho.
TL;DR: DONT EVER MESS WITH OUIJA BOARDS.

About 15 years ago my mom and cousin were coming home from visiting my aunt who lived 2 hours away. The drive takes you through the desert and up some mountains but there is a shortcut you can take to avoid the mountains and shave about 10 minutes off your drive time, only problem is the shortcut takes you literally through the middle of nowhere. Its a 2 lane road with nothing for 30 miles, no houses, no shops, no lights, not even those roadside emergency phone booths.
They’re driving along through the shortcut at about 11PM when they spot something on the road. At first my cousin thinks its a rock so she slows down to go around it. When she gets closer she realizes its a lady with long black hair and what looks like a burlap shawl wrapped around her. She’s crouched down facing away from my cousin. My mom says that she thought the lady might have been in trouble so they pull up next to her and ask if she’s OK and if she needs help.
My cousin says the lady stood up and looked at them and let out a shriek like a g*****n banshee. She insists that the her eyes were pitch black and her skin was as white as a sheet and she was really skinny, like almost anorexic skinny. I debate this because it was dark out and her mind might have been playing tricks on her, but none the less it was enough to spook the hell out her and make her punch the accelerator and get out of there.
The lady briefly ran after them but they lost sight of her after a short bit. They didn’t stop for anything, even running a stop sign, until they got to the next town where they stopped at a gas station to get something to drink and to collect their thoughts.
A few weeks later my cousin was telling her coworker what happened and she said it might have been a skin walker that she saw and that she’s lucky she got away. That spooked her even worse so now she wont go through the shortcut, even when someone else is driving she insists on taking the main highway. My mom maintains that it was probably some crazy lady on d***s.

About 18 years ago my family was driving home from Disney Land and traffic was backed up for so long and police were walking from car to car looking under each one.
Dad asks one of the officers what was happening and the officer said that a man jumped into traffic on the freeway and they can’t locate the gentleman’s head.

About five years ago i was at a friends house drinking about 3 am We ran out so i road my bike back to my house 5 blocks away and grabbed some and got on the bike to ride back. When i got about two blocks down i saw a car crossing the street. when whoever was driving saw me they slowed down and stopped on the side of the street as if to wait on me to ride that way. I had a horrible feeling about it for some reason so i just pulled up to the house i was in front of and pretended it was mine walked up to the front door like i was going inside. When i did that i noticed the car leave from where they were pulled over. I waited for a bit and then headed back to my buddies and forgot about it. The next day it was all over the news that a car matching the one i saw 2 streets over from where i saw them at 330am pulled out infront of another car and blocked them in and proceeded to shoot and k**l everyone in the car. Apparently it was a thrill k**l.

The most recent event: Several years ago my family and I were out at a restaurant just outside of town. The place was virtually empty as it was in between meal times. I had to use the bathroom, and found it in a narrow hallway just on the other side of the kitchen. I opened the door… and got a serious case of the creeps. It was a 4-stall bathroom with only one dim light, and just a weird feeling about it. I’ve had two kids, and believe me, bathrooms are my friends, but this one was very unsettling.
I went into the stall with the light over it, and could hear all the kitchen noise happening. There was banging and clanging and chatter and general kitchen racket.
Then suddenly all the noise stopped. It was like a blanket was dropped over the room — you could hear a pin drop.
Then the lights went out. And I had a very strong sense of something enjoying my discomfort.
Then the lights came on, the sound resumed, and I washed my hands and got the heck out of there.
As I exited the bathroom I saw the light switch was inside the room, and I would have heard the noisy door open if anyone had reached inside and turned the switch off, which they didn’t. When I got back to the table I asked the waiter if there had been a brief power outage just now, and he looked at me like I was nuts.
Another one: When I was a kid we always had weird things happening in any house we lived in. When I was about 11 I was in the bathroom, alone in the house, when I could hear stomping coming down the hallway. It then veered off to my parents’ bedroom across the hall, hollered something, and stomped into the ensuite bathroom, then slammed the door. I got up enough gumption to go to the door, knife in hand, (what good did I think that would do??), to see what might be in the ensuite bathroom. Nothing.
I always used to see people at the house I lived in for the first eight years of my life. Not people who were there, mind you, but I could see them clear as day, and they seemed very familiar and normal to me. I would talk to them and my mother would wonder who I was talking to, so I’d tell her. She believed me even though she couldn’t see them herself. I didn’t see them anymore when we moved, nor am I prone to seeing things that aren’t there otherwise.

When I was around 10, I was sleeping over at my cousin’s house. I’ve always had anxiety, but it was really bad as a kid. Nights were hard, especially if I was away from home.
Anyway, I was in bed desperately trying to sleep, but I had to use the bathroom really bad and was terrified to get up and wander the house in the dark. Finally I realized I couldn’t wait and got up.
There was a bathroom right next to the room I was in, but the door was broken and would only close about halfway, which meant that I would have to use the bathroom at the other end of the house.
To my relief, when I got down the hall the lights were on in the kitchen and living room, so it wouldn’t be quite as terrifying.
Once I reached the living room, I heard it. It sounded like 2 guys conversing really slowly in a language I didn’t know. You know how in movies criminals will distort their voices and they sound really deep and slow and unnatural? That’s exactly what it sounded like.
I glanced at the TV, it wasn’t on. None of the windows were open. I don’t know how, but I was relatively calm during this, especially for me. I didn’t even cry. I sat in the bathroom for about 20 minutes because I was so scared to go out. But I knew I couldn’t spend the whole night in there, so eventually I summed up all my courage and went out.
I speed walked back to the room with my hands over my ears and I STILL heard it. I was absolutely terrified.
I learned the next day that you had to slam the other bathroom door in order for it to close, which I definitely ended up doing the next night when I needed the bathroom.
Not as scary as some of the others on here, but it was really scary to me.

When I was about 14 my parents left me alone overnight for the first time. I grew up in a small farming community, so my parents really had nothing to worry about. They left and I decided to take an awesome bubble bath and paint my nails like all girls everywhere, obviously. While I was in the bath, I heard our back door open. I thought I was hearing things, and besides, I had locked all the doors per my mom’s orders. But then I heard the kitchen floor squeaky spot. I didn’t know what to do so I just went under the bubbles and left my head out. I saw two shoes through the crack between the door and the floor. I could hear a person breathing. They stood there for about 30 seconds and then walked away. I heard the door slam but I didn’t move, I just stayed there until the water was freezing and cried. Then I got out, called my grandma, and checked the doors. The back door was unlocked and the lock hadn’t been messed with or broken. Later that week we learned that a man was breaking into farm houses.

Me and my family have dealt with being haunted pretty much all of my life and it gets way worse whenever someone close dies. My mom owned a bakery and worked from 3am to sometimes midnight pretty regularly and there would be times like Christmas where she had to just stay there for days In order to fill all the orders for holidays. Well one night she decided to take a quick nap before getting back to baking. She NEVER fell asleep for very long but this time she woke up around 5 am from my uncle slamming on the door. Apparently the oven somehow managed to turn on and the entire top of the oven was removed and was leaking fumes into the building. My uncle got a phone call from the bakery with no one speaking for a second and then hung up. No one knows how the top of the oven was removed and who called. It was f*****g weird.
Another time a few months after my dad committed s*****e in the garage of our house we would see his ghost all over the house regularly. The time that really stuck out and spooked me was when my mom saw him sitting in my room and watched him get up and go into the bathroom. The following morning she asked me why I was at home that late In the morning cause I was working third shift every night that week, I was like uhh, I wasn’t I was at work. Me and my dad look extremely similar especially when he was my age. I was struggling with h****n pretty bad at the time and it was nice to know he was watching over me.

The creepiest thing to every happen to me is when I was living in my best friends garage. The night before we had planned to leave for California, I randomly lost my License. I tore my room (garage) apart looking for the d**n thing and it was vital because I needed it to get the hotel room and our tickets from this League Of Legends game we were going to watch. I ended up never finding it and had to go to the DMV in the morning to get a new one. When we got back from our trip I still wanted to find my old license because it had my old picture on it and I like that kind of stuff. Well for the next few months I continued to look everywhere for the d**n thing. One night, while in mid sleep, something in the night woke me up. I awoken with a startle and in the darkness I felt something in my hand, before turning on the light I already knew what it was. I had woken up to my old license in my hand. I have no idea what to think of it but I’m glad I got to tell the story here and I hope someone gets to read it. Thanks.

I’m late to this post but f**k it.
When I was around 8 or 9 my friends and I were in the park a bit behind my friend’s town house complex. My friend Steve and I are 8/9 but our friend Dylan is with us also and he was about three years older than us. So we’re playing and then my friend’s creepy uncle shows up to “check on us”. Now it turns out that he has mental issues and isn’t really all there, but we didn’t really know about that kind of thing at this age. So we’re playing tag or jailbreak or something when suddenly he picks me up and starts carrying me towards this big road in the distance. He tells the other kids that “someone has to go”. They start going with it. I’m terrified as we approach the road with buzzing traffic and suddenly Dylan says, “No, let me push him”. Uncle Scary says okay and begins to set me up for a push when Dylan grabs me and whispers, “run”. We ran so fast out of there and I don’t exactly remember what happened next but I never saw that guy again.

My grandma told me this story recently and it really creeped me out. When my mom was little they (my grandma, mom, and aunt) lived in an old house in Seattle. The house had a basement that they had converted into a playroom. One day, when my mom was 5 and her sister 3, my grandma was upstairs in the kitchen cooking dinner and she heard them screaming down in the basement. She ran down there and asked them what happened. Both of them were in hysterics saying something about “a man” being down there with them, and pointing into a corner. My grandma couldn’t get any other details out of them. She thoroughly searched the basement and found nothing out of the ordinary. It was also only accessible from the stairs connected to the rest of the house, and my grandma would’ve noticed a man entering/leaving the basement. After that my mom and aunt refused to play down there. My grandma never did find out what really happened, and neither my mom nor aunt remember it.

My mom was kidnapped, blindfolded, taken to a dark place she still isn’t sure was even a man-made structure, and then tied to a chair. The guy that took her kept talking to her the entire time; she has never told me details except that the man was crazy. After a while she started talking to him, asking him questions, getting him to talk to her about less crazy stuff. She isn’t sure how long this went on, just that it was a long time. After quite some time, the man (whom she never saw directly or recognized the voice of) told her, “I don’t know why, but I need to let you go”. My guess is that she humanized herself enough to him so that he couldn’t go through with whatever it was he had initially kidnapped her for. He loaded her back up in the car and dropped off, still blindfolded, at a convenience store up the road from where she lived, told her to count to 1000 before taking the blindfold off, then he left. After she got home and told her parents they didn’t believe her and thought she was making it up so that she wouldn’t get in trouble for being out late.

This story certainly felt creepy when it was happening. I was in the orthopedic surgery wing of the hospital after getting my torn Achilles tendon repaired. It was a fairly long procedure and I was pretty groggy from the anesthesia after-effects combined with the morphine for the pain, but I did notice that I had a roommate that had both of his hands and feet wrapped in bandages. I could hear him talking to his father, but didn’t pay much attention because of how out of it I was at the time. I did remember hearing something about “Why did you stop taking your medication?”
I don’t know how morphine affects anyone else, but it gives me a very restless sleep combined with vivid dreams (almost nightmares; something I never have). So in the middle of the night, while turning over for the 100th time I spied someone standing beside my bed in the dark.
“Do you have any smokes?”
My roommate apparently was standing there watching me sleep, waiting for me to wake up to ask for a cigarette. It could be considered being very polite or very creepy, but when you are in a morphine induced haze it was definitely creepy. Later that day I heard the details of why he was there. He had gone off his meds and decided to quit smoking hard core. I mean liquid nitrogen cold turkey.
First he nailed his feet to the floor so he couldn’t go out for smokes. Then he took a butcher knife from the kitchen and cut off the fingers of his left hand so he couldn’t hold a cigarette. That’s where his plan kind of fell apart, because he had a lot of trouble cutting off the right fingers with no left fingers to hold the knife. He only got though three of them. I put this together between the conversations I overheard between family, nurses and doctors.
I was supposed to be in there for another day, but they told me I could go home early if I was OK with taking Tylenol 3 for the pain. I would have to stay if I needed the stronger morphine pain-k**ler so the staff could administer it. I said I would go home with aspirin if it meant getting out of that room. The head nurse at the nursing station was sympathetic, she said the guy really needed to be in a different kind of hospital but he had orthopedic issues that had to be dealt with and that’s why he was there.
It wasn’t supernatural, just a mentally disturbed individual who had hurt himself. He probably couldn’t even have hurt anyone else considering his injuries, but in my morphine fog it was creepy as hell to me to have someone that disturbed 10 feet away while I was sleeping.

I was about ten years old and my house was haunted. There was occasions where I’d sometimes hear people talking downstairs while I was in my room but would stop when I would go downstairs. One time when I heard the talking, I tried tip-toeing down the stairs and heard very clearly “Shhhh, he’s coming” and then silence.
But the scariest thing that happened to me was one night my parents went out for dinner and left my brother home to babysit me. He had really bad allergies and was downstairs in the basement and I could hear him sneezing and blowing his nose when I was in my room. I turned the lights off and was trying to fall asleep when I started to hear footsteps from the hallway leading to my room. I looked and assumed it was my brother trying to play a prank on me, but I heard him sneezing from the basement so I knew it wasn’t him. I turned over and tried to fall asleep when I heard the footsteps again but this time, I heard them walk into my room. I check again and there’s no one there. And then I began to hear heavy breathing. Very loud, labored breathing. I was super scared and decided, as most ten year olds do, that if I ignore it maybe it would go away. So I turn over and hope for the best. And then I felt the breathing on my neck and that’s when I jumped up and ran out of the room. Nothing really major has happened since then, but I still remember feeling that breath on my neck.

When I was 8 (and my brother 6) my mom picked us up from school one day. When we got home my mom had forgotten her keys so she knocked on the door for my grandma to let us in.
Now arquitecture is super important to the story: we lived in a very well-to-do apartment building, on the 8th floor, where each floor was a loooooong rectangle, with a single apt on each end (so 2 apts per floor). In the middle of the rectangle of each floor, there was a single elevator. The building was essentially all glass, there were no external fire staircases or ladders and the nearest structure was another building an entire block away.
Ok. So we knock on the door. My grandma yells from the inside “im coming!” so we wait. And we wait. 1 minute, nothing. So we knock again. Again my grandma: “I said im coming!”. 3 minutes, then 5. She still isnt opening the door even though we can clearly hear her in the kitchen inside the house so we are getting pissed. We knock and knock and she just keeps on saying the same thing: “I said Im coming! Im coming right now!”
10 minutes later, the elevator opens behind us and out comes my grandma. The apartment had been empty the entire time.
Its been 20 years since then and my mom, brother, and I all clearly remember talking to that voice that sounded EXACTLY like my grandma. Zero explanation. My grandma is still alive btw.

This probably doesn’t count but my dad once dug up two WW2 mortars in his back field (thankfully he didn’t hit them and was fine). Scared the hell out of me that they’re just like… there. Chilling underground.
Until they blow you up.

My sister went to a nail salon that used the utmost in care and sterilization. They even used a plastic liner for the foot tub.
She got a massive staph infection on her leg, and after living with an actual hole in her leg the size of a grapefruit, it’s starting to look somewhat normal 2 years later. She has nerve damage in her leg and foot, though, and the infection nearly k**led her.
You can be so very clean, but still get staph. It is NO JOKE. You do NOT want to mess with it.
Edit: Many of you feel I’m blaming the salon. I truly didn’t mean it that way. The doctor explained that although it’s likely she got it from the pedicure, he explained that it can occur on the skin and it could’ve happened a myriad of ways. That’s why she would not sue. No point in making good people suffer for something that might not have been their fault.

When I was 16 my grandparents hired me to house sit for 3 weeks at their farm house in a small town. It was the second to last night of my stay and all had gone well for a 16 year old completely alone in a big empty house for 3 weeks. It was about 1 am and it started to thunderstorm outside, so I decided to turn everything off and go to bed. I was upstairs in the front bedroom that overlooks their driveway, using the toilet when I heard a loud noise outside that sounded similar to a tractor or riding mower. Now this isn’t completely unusual as my uncle lives down the street and he is who did the lawn care for their house. But at 1 am during a storm it was quite odd. I heard the side door to the house open and could hear my uncles work boots enter below me. I thought maybe he was there to help out in case of a power outage. What really got to me though was the fact that the 3 german shepherds were laying at the foot of the bed – completely unaware, which is not like them at all. Those dogs go wild at a leaf falling to the ground 15 feet away. So I go to the window and look out at the driveway – no cars, no tractor, nothing. No one is out there. All of the sudden the stomping intensifies and I start to hear what sounds as if someone is banging a broom on the ceiling below me. Now the dogs start going wild and I’m in full panic mode. The thunderstorm outside is intensifying, the stomping and banging on the ceiling is getting louder and the dogs are going berserk. Instantaneously, the power goes out and everything – EVERYTHING stops. The dogs, the stomping, the banging, everything. The room I’m in is pitch black for about 5 full minutes and I hid under the covers trying to call my uncle in a sheer panic. After that, everything was as if nothing happened and the storm passed shortly after. Was the scariest and weirdest night ever

When I was in highschool i was walking home alone in my school uniform and this car stops in front of me as i am trying to cross the road.
The guy driving it asks me if i was still a virgin.
I tried to walk around the car and ignore him but he keeps moving the car to stop me from crossing the street.
I look around to ask for help but the street was deserted. I have never been so scare un my lífe. I finally ended up walking backup the way i came as fast as i could hoping to find a way hide or ask for help.

Two years ago, I think, a friend and I sat on the balcony of my flat, drinking beer and talking. It was late in the evening, and you could clearly see many planes flying overhead. My friend had the FlightRadar app on his phone and we were checking out overhead flights, from where they were flying and to where.
All of a sudden, while he had a flight from Paris to Cairo open, he just looked at me and in a very serious tone said: this plane is going down. Then he started laughing, i laughed too and I brushed it off as drunken foolery.
The next day i saw a report that a plane, headed from Paris to Cairo, crashed into the ocean. We never spoke of it.

I work night shifts at a children’s hospital.
Once a call bell went off around 3am from one of the back rooms and it was a woman frantically saying “Someone! Please help me! The baby!” with a baby crying in the background. I ran back there to help her but the baby was alone, sleeping in the crib. I asked the nurse if anyone had been with the baby all night and she said no, he’s been alone all night.
It still creeps me out when I think about it

I was bitten on my face by a brown recluse spider while on a training mission with the US Army. It happened while I was sleeping so the poison stayed in my face, right next to my eye, for about 6 hours.
My head swelled so bad it looked like my face doubled in size.
I lost nerve feeling in my eye socket and now my eyelid uncontrollably flutters the more tired I get. Sort of like a tremor that people with tourettes get.

When I was in college I lived in a decently safe apartment complex. You needed a gate clicker for your car, and the foot entrance required a code. All doors had a d**d bolt, and extensive locks for the sliding patio door. Well when the complex went under new management, the foot path gate code stopped working so anyone could push it open. In mid October a note was sent out to all residents stating that a new gate code would be issued in the following days and for everyone to keep their doors locked due to suspicious behavior. The following week another note was sent out describing a man that had been seen peering over balconies and through windows, but the gate code still hadn’t been fixed.
On Halloween I distinctly remember locking my deadbolt after a night out because I friends staying over, and I usually locked my door anyway since I lived alone. I woke up the next morning and my door was unlocked, I asked if anyone had went outside and they all said no. The following night I was by myself, and a little skeptical of my door so I made it a point to check my door before I went to sleep. Wake up next morning and the door is unlocked. I was a little freaked out so I scanned my apartment for anything missing, or a sign that someone had been in there. Nothing. So by the third night I was d**n sure I locked my door, and checked my sliding door locks as well. Around 5:30/6 am my cat started to get restless so I threw her in the living room until I was ready to wake up. She starts making some weird noises a few minutes later, so I go into the living room and hear a weird noise, like a thud or something, I look at my door and its f*****g unlocked.
By this time I’m freaking out, called my apartment manager and got them to inspect my apartment to make sure there was no way for anyone to get in, and had my locks changed. Never happened again but I’m about 99% sure someone had been sneaking in to my apartment when I wasn’t home and watching me sleep. Maybe I was just being paranoid, but I know for a fact I had locked my door all three nights.
TL;DR Lived alone in an apartment, door became unlocked three nights in a row, potentially had someone watch me sleep.

I grew up in a farmhouse built in the 1860’s. I was probably 14 or so and was home alone while my parents took my little brother to t-ball practice. My little brother did (and still does) call me “Sissy” and I have always called him Bubby. I was sitting in the living room watching TV and heard the back door that we always use open and my little brother shout out “Sissy!!!” and I responded back with “hey Bubby!” I waited a minute or two and heard nothing else, then yelled out again with no response. As it turns out, they hadn’t gotten home yet. I was literally too scared to move and stayed put til they did get home about 30 minutes later.

I lived in a haunted house for a while as a kid. I habe hundreds of stories. A couple of the better ones though involved my bed. I was laying on my bed, on the very edge and talking to my then girlfriend on the phone. The center of the bed slowly depressed as if someone had laid down next to me. A few minutes later it went back up just as slow, as if whoever/whatever had gotten back up.
Another time, woke up in the middle of the night from a deep sleep, extremely confused. It took me a minute to realize that what had woken me up, was my bed shaking really hard. That time though, I remeber thinking to myself “should I be scared of this? No too tired” and going immediately back to sleep. Didint realize how crazy that was untill thinking about it the next day.
I have lots of stories , anyone that stayed in that house for any ammount of time has them too. Ill tell some more if anyone wants to hear them
