Jennifer Lawrence joined Instagram with a warning that was clearly meant to be a joke, but fans quickly found something else to talk about.
The Oscar-winning actress had barely launched her verified account before comments about her appearance began flooding the page.
Her recent Vogue interview, in which she opened up about cosmetic treatments and procedures she might consider, further fueled the speculation.
One person reacted, “I would never have recognized her. Her makeup artists are incredible or her surgeon!”

After years of avoiding social media, Jennifer Lawrence officially joined Instagram on Wednesday, September 9, using the verified handle @jlaw.
Her bio jokingly explains the username with the line “jenniferlawrence was taken,” giving followers an early glimpse of the dry humor she is known for.
Her account, with over 3.5 million followers so far, has only one main feed post, in which Lawrence addressed her sudden arrival in a short video.

Speaking directly to the camera, she warned followers that she would not tolerate negativity.
“I’m giving it a shot, and if anyone says anything negative, I will quit immediately, no questions asked. If anyone thinks something mean, I’ll know, and I’ll quit,” she said.
The Hunger Games alum has also posted an accompanying Instagram Story where she jokingly added, “Please be mindful that any mean or aggressive comments can negatively affect the baby. It’s me. I’m the baby.”

She also followed a selective group of celebrities and public figures, including Josh Hutcherson, Leonardo DiCaprio, the Kardashian-Jenner family, and Dakota Johnson, among others.
Her celebrity friends also welcomed her arrival, with Zoey Deutch, Joey King, Eve Hewson, Whitney Leavitt, Lily Collins, and Noah Schnapp among those reacting to the post.
However, rather than focusing on Jennifer’s long-awaited Instagram arrival, some netizens immediately pointed out that she looked noticeably different in the clip.
“Sadly, appears she got work done and ruined her face,” one person wrote.
Another commented, “She looks way different than when she was young. She totally changed her face. I’m not saying she’s not beautiful, but she is totally a different person.”

Lawrence’s Instagram debut came shortly after a candid Vogue feature that reignited conversations about her appearance.
In the article, titled “At the Spa With Jennifer Lawrence, Nothing Is Off the Table,” the actress spoke openly about beauty treatments, aging, and the pressure to maintain a recognizable face in Hollywood.
She admitted that she gets “baby Botox,” explaining, “I can’t really get very much done. I need to have movement in my face, I get baby Botox, but I can’t do a lot.”
Jennifer also revealed that she would “love to have a buccal fat removal,” a procedure that reduces fullness in the lower cheeks.

However, she joked that she could not undergo it without people noticing, adding, “but just know that I want that.”
Her candid comments prompted some people to speculate that she had already undergone more extensive procedures.
Reacting to her interview, some social media users even compared her appearance to that of celebrities including Meryl Streep, Bella Hadid, Taylor Swift, Emily Blunt, Suki Waterhouse, and Dakota Johnson.
However, Lawrence has previously rejected claims that she had a nose job or eyelid surgery.
She has attributed changes in her appearance to natural aging, losing her teenage “baby fat,” makeup, and contouring.
At the same time, Lawrence has never suggested that she is completely opposed to cosmetic procedures.
She has previously discussed possibly undergoing breast augmentation after having children and has also joked about getting a facelift in the future.
