December 3, 2024, marked the fourth anniversary of Bad Girls Club alum Whitney Collings, who died at 33 in 2020. The television personality became popular after her time on the Oxygen reality television series. Bad Girls Club centered around women who enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle while living in a mansion for three months.
Despite its controversies, Bad Girls Club survived 17 seasons from 2006 to 2017. Whitney Collings, who appeared in the show’s early seasons, was reported dead by her mother, Linda Houghton Collings, on Facebook. Here’s everything to know and remember about Whitney Collings’ life and death.
Whitney Collings in Bad Girls Club
Whitney Collings joined the seven original Bad Girls participants in Bad Girls Club season 3. The season was the network’s highest-rated and most-watched season premiere ever. Season 3 also introduced the Bad Girls Club creed and the first time the girls take a vacation on the show. Whitney Collings was 21 years old when she joined the show. The Boston, Massachusetts, TV star was nicknamed “The Straight Shooter” and was known to remind anyone who cared that she was from Boston.
However, following a violent altercation during their vacation in Cancun, Whitney Collings was removed from the show in episode 12 (“The Cookie Crumbles”). Collings left a memorable impression on audiences during her time on the show. She was known for her short-fused temper and party life. Although young at the time, Whitney Collings was primarily remembered for her time on Oxygen’s Bad Girls Club. Whitney Collings is the third Bad Girls Club personality to pass away, having lost season 12’s Linsey Jade on April 2, 2015, who was a month shy of her 23rd birthday, and season 8’s Demitra “Mimi” Roche, who died on July 22, 2020, at age 34.
Cause of Whitney Collings’ Death
TMZ first picked up Whitney Collings’ mother’s Facebook post about the TV star’s death. The Facebook post read, “I am completely broken and will never get over this. Life is so unfair. She was kind with a big heart.” At the time news of Collings’ death first broke, the cause of death wasn’t known. However, she reportedly died at the MelroseWakefield Hospital in Melrose, Massachusetts, near her hometown.
About seven months after her death, TMZ obtained Whitney Collings’ death certificate, which detailed her cause of death. According to the report, Whitney Collings had died from “acute intoxication by the combined effects of fentanyl, cocaine, alcohol, and clonazepam.” Like her death several months before, her cause of death came as a shock to many who hadn’t seen the TV star since 2009.
Whitney Collings’ Funeral & Tributes
Barile Family Funeral Home undertook Whitney Collings’ funeral. The funeral took place at the funeral home on December 10, 2020, a week after her death. Afterward, a funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Assumption Church. Her funeral ceremony was attended by family and close friends, with only 40% allowable guests due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions at the time. imeCollings was interred at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery & Crematory in Peabody, Massachusetts.
Several of Whitney Collings’ friends shared their tributes and condolences on social media. Bad Girls Club season 2-star Darlen Escobar shared on her Instagram story, “God has gained another beautiful sweet angel. It’s like everyday I get on Facebook or Instagram Heaven gains another angel.” Collings’ fellow season star, Amber Meade, with whom Collings had an altercation that led to her dismissal, also shared a tribute on Instagram. The TV star wrote, “I’m glad we were able to move past any differences we had all those years ago. My sympathies to those that knew Whitney and are feeling the loss today!”
Meade also engaged Bad Girls Club season 2 star Tanisha Thomas, who added, “at a lost (sic) for words.” To which Meade added, “This is pretty insane—I can’t believe she’s gone—her poor momma!” Another of Whitney Collings’ friends shared in a Facebook post, “I am completely heart broken Whitney Collings we have so many fun memories together. Rest easy beautiful angel your (sic) with your dad now.” Besides Whitney Collings, here’s another TV star, Ashley “Minnie” Ross of The Little Women Atlanta, who died at 34 in 2020.
