It’s finally time for the 2016 NFL season. But if you’re sick of paying for cable, then you need to figure out another way to watch. This year, there are a few new ways to stream all the action online. You just need to know what channel the games are on and match it up with the correct streaming solution.
Let’s take a look at the newest NFL streaming solutions below.
Watch Monday Night Football on PlayStation Vue
Similar to streaming service Sling TV, PlayStation Vue allows you to stream a relatively skinny bundle of channels without a cable contract. At the beginning of 2016, the service went nationwide, offering ESPN as part of it’s most basic package. That means you have a new way to get a Monday Night Football live stream legally.
Vue’s packages start out at $29.99 in most markets. However, in certain major markets, they offer live local channels, which bumps the price up to $39.99. It’s a bit pricey, but if you’re lucky enough to live in those markets, you’ll get a FOX live stream and more
Stream and Tweet on Twitter
While Twitter hasn’t exactly been doing well the last couple of years, it’s trying really hard to reinvent itself as a streaming platform. To get the ball rolling, the company made a surprise deal with the NFL to stream 10 Thursday Night Football games. This includes all the TNF games that will be aired on NBC and CBS.
What will the experience be like? Judging by Twitter’s other streaming test trials, you’ll likely go to a dedicated page where the stream will play up top and tweets will go below. That way you can watch and gripe/cheer/etc. all in the same window. All for free. The only downside really is that you have to watch on your computer or mobile device, although there are rumors that a Twitter Apple TV app may be in the works.
Watch NFL Network Online with Sling and Vue
The NFL Network is the premiere cable channel for NFL coverage. And not only does it offer the most complete NFL news coverage, but it also plays Thursday Night Football all season long. Up until recently, you could only watch this channel if you had cable. However, it has recently been added to both Sling TV and PlayStation Vue.
For Sling TV, you need to have the Sling Blue package, which will run you $24.99 a month. For Vue, you need to have their mid-tier package, which starts out at $34.99 in most markets.
Both services also offer the addition of NFL RedZone, so you can see every touchdown of the week. Sling makes it available with their Sports Extra package (which also now has the Pac-12 network for you college fans), which will run an additional $10 per month. Vue offers a season pass for a flat fee of $39.99.
There you have it. Three recent developments in the world of NFL streaming.
