To this day one could conceivably argue that Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was Jim Carrey’s finest comedic work in a movie. Dumb and Dumber will always get the nod but it was Ace Ventura that was responsible for Jim Carrey becoming one of the biggest and most well paid names in comedic movie roles for the decade that followed this film.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this movie at least 30 times and every single time I see it I laugh at not only the same parts again and again but I find myself continuing to find newer nuances in the movie that make me giggle. On the surface and even not on the surface this is really just a dumb movie. There are loads of people who called it stupid and said “I don’t get what’s so funny about this.” To them I say, “exactly, you just don’t get it.”
To me these are the same people who never thought Norm Macdonald was funny as SNL’s Weekend Update anchor. It does take a certain mind to appreciate this guy of humor. But come on people. This movie was amazing. Anyway, here are 25 fun facts you might not know about Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
