20 of the Funniest Deaths in Comedy Movies

20 of the Funniest Deaths in Comedy Movies

People like to watch movies for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes, it’s because a particular movie or even a certain scene makes them feel something. Other times, it’s because they’re actually trying to escape their own reality by mentally allowing themselves to sink into someone else’s for a couple of hours. After all, it can be easy to identify with certain characters in television and movies. Sometimes that’s the attraction. It all might revolve around a particular character. At other times, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the character or the actor playing it.

Some people choose a particular movie because they like that certain genre. You have horror movie aficionados, those that love to watch action movies or mystery, and you have those that love comedy more than anything else. It’s important to make some distinction here. There are times when the entire movie is considered a comedy and there are other times where it may not be a comedy at all, but the particular scene in question is so funny you can’t stop laughing.

If there’s a slight chance that you might be just a little bit twisted and you like to watch hilarious death scenes, there’s certainly no shortage of such things when it comes to many different types of movies. You might be surprised to learn that a lot of these types of death scenes actually happened in what most people consider to be a comedy movie. Of course, they also happen in movies that are supposed to be action or horror movies. Nevertheless, the particular scene in question is side-splitting. Some are funnier than others, without a doubt. However, there’s something on the following list of the 20 funniest deaths in movies that’s bound to tickle your funny bone. If it doesn’t, it might be time to explore your life choices or maybe make sure that you really are still alive. At any rate, below is a list of 20 different movies, most of them comedies, where you can watch some astonishingly funny death scenes. If it makes you feel a little weird that you enjoy this sort of thing, don’t worry. There’s obviously a lot of other people out there just like you, or they wouldn’t show up in so many different movies to begin with.

1. Naked Gun 2 ½: The Smell of Fear

Every Naked Gun movie is funny. These movies combined some of the best writing along with the comedy of star Leslie Nielsen in order to create something that you just don’t see anymore. In this particular movie, one of the funniest scenes is when Nielson’s character kills the bad guy with a fire hose. You might be thinking that he blasts him with water until he drowns or even hits him over the head with a brass coupling. If that is what you’re thinking, you’d be wrong. What he does is stick the water hose in the guy’s mouth and then turn the water pressure on full force. Before you know it, all of the water pressure throughout the whole building has gone to nothing because it’s all going to this hose. The bad guy starts to get bigger and bigger until he finally pops like an overstuffed water balloon. It’s just something you don’t see everyday.

2. Tropic Thunder

This movie creates laughs by making fun of something terrible-war. In the movie, there’s a film director that’s going to go out in the jungle with the serviceman in order to create a movie so everyone will know what is going on. Needless to say, he’s not the brightest individual that ever lived. Right after he gives this rousing speech about what they’re going to do, he promptly turns around and steps on a landmine. The next thing you see is well, you know, the director being catapulted through the sky. There’s nothing funny about war, but this movie somehow manages to make you laugh.

3. Jack Frost

This was supposed to be a horror film but it turned out to be too funny to scare anybody. It’s also a little questionable when it comes to its contents, to say the least. However, one of those questionable scenes also turned out to be nothing short of hilarious. During the scene, the killer snowman decides that his next victim is going to be the person taking a bath. The first thing she sees is a carrot floating in the bathtub and then, before you know it, she’s being attacked by a homicidal snowman. He does a few things before he kills her, and that will be left to your imagination. What’s funny about it all? The very idea of a homicidal snowman that sneaks into somebody’s house, much less a steaming hot bath tub, in order to commit murder is funny. It’s so stupid it makes you laugh.

4. Hatchet III

Okay, this is another one that’s supposed to be in the horror genre. The problem is, this entire series of movies is so ridiculous they can’t possibly be scary. You have to wonder if it was actually intended to be some type of horror/comedy hybrid. That’s definitely the way it comes across, anyway. In the death scene, the deputy shoots the killer about 30 times. As you might have guessed, that doesn’t so much as slow him down. He just keeps right on walking. The next thing you know, he slices the deputy neatly in half, allowing his brains to spill out onto the ground. If you can’t laugh at this, there’s really no reason to watch it because it certainly isn’t going to scare you.

5. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

All of the Austin Power movies are meant to be satirical comedies based on movies like James Bond. In this particular version, Dr. Evil decides to send Will Ferrell’s character into a raging hot furnace because he didn’t like the way he treated his cat. The funny thing about it all is that anybody that gets thrown into a burning furnace is obviously not going to be having very much fun. As you might imagine with a movie like this, the character doesn’t die, but just moans and complains about being hot. Eventually, they decide to shoot him, but that doesn’t get the job done either. The second time around finally does the trick.

6. The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad

You had to know that if the sequel to The Naked Gun appeared at number one on this list, its predecessor was going to be on here somewhere. In the movie, Nielsen has a stun gun and he has it aimed at the individual that he needs to catch. Of course, with this being the Naked Gun, it goes completely wrong. The perpetrator ends up falling off a building and landing face down on the street below. He then gets run over about three different times and stomped on by a bunch of people in a band. If you want to talk about overkill, this is the perfect scene.

7. Dumb and Dumber

This movie seems to be perfectly titled. A lot of people actually thought it was funny and it’s supposed to be. Other people thought that the whole movie was so stupid that it was virtually impossible to watch it all the way through to the end. Whatever your personal opinion about the movie might be as a whole, this particular scene is funny. In the scene, you find the two main characters challenging a guy named Mental, of all things, to eat super hot peppers. They think it’s going to be funny but the guy ends up dying because of peppers are so hot. Of course, the other two panic and eventually try just about everything to revive him, all with no luck. Finally, they remember that Mental has medication that just might get him going again. There is one small problem, however. He was actually going to kill them with some cyanide pills. They mistakenly give him the wrong pills and he wakes up just in time to realize what they’ve done before he meets his demise. After that, they can’t get out of the place fast enough.

8. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

A lot of people like this old-school British humor and others absolutely can’t stand it. There is no doubt that it’s a different type of humor than what most people in the United States are accustomed to. Whatever your thoughts on the movie might be, you have to agree that one of the funniest scenes in the movie involves the death bridge. After all, the very troll that was assigned to guard the bridge, and the one that takes so much joy in killing everybody that can’t answer the questions right, eventually gets a taste of his own medicine. How can you not laugh at that?

9. Eating Raoul

This is one of the stranger movies that will appear on this list. As far as the genre of the movie goes, it’s a lot like the Hatchet series. It’s not necessarily supposed to be a comedy, at least not from a technical perspective. With that being said, some of the scenes are so over the top that you can’t help but laugh at them. As a result, the movie becomes a comedy whether it was supposed to be or not. One of the funniest scenes in the movie involves this couple that likes to kill swingers and then steal all of their money. They find a whole bunch of people that have decided to have a swingers party in a hot tub. Obviously, they think they’ve hit the jackpot. They decide that they will murder them all by throwing a space heater into the hot tub. If you don’t laugh at all of the chaos that ensues, there’s probably not very much that is going to make you laugh. It’s worth saying it again, whether this was intended to be funny or not, it’s absolutely hilarious.

10. This Is the End

A satirical comedy about the end of the world is something that only certain types of twisted individuals are probably going to watch in the first place. The ability of the entire movie to be funny from beginning to end is questionable, at best. Of course, there are some good scenes that are peppered throughout and one of them involves the death scene of Michael Cera. It’s funny enough that the guy spends most of his time looking for the cell phone that he actually has on him to begin with. If you’ve ever spent time wondering where your cell phone is, only to realize that you’re holding it in your hand, you know how this feels. However, the real kicker is that he’s so involved in searching for this phone that he doesn’t even seem to realize the whole world is coming to an end. Even when a light pole falls over and impales him through the back, going right through his heart, he still doesn’t get it. He stands there with blood squirting out of his chest, griping about the fact that he just now found his cell phone. This is likely to make even the most serious people laugh, probably because we’ve all known somebody that was just that clueless.

11. The Running Man

This movie is just weird. That’s the best way to describe it. It’s a Stephen King adaptation and even though it came out years ago, it’s still hard to identify exactly what genre this thing is supposed to fall into. It’s not really scary and it’s not really funny, it’s just sort of akin to having an acid trip and a nightmare that collide together. One of the scenes in the movie involves a character being killed by a buzzsaw. It’s supposed to be dramatic and even a little bit scary but it doesn’t really have the intended effect. Most people that watch it end up laughing their head off before it’s over. It may be the only scene in the entire movie that’s actually worth watching.

12. Team America: World Police

This is also one of the stranger movies on the list. It’s supposed to be a satirical comedy that makes fun of Kim Jong Un. It’s done in what looks like a computer animated version of claymation. If you look closely, you can even see the computer animated strings on the so-called puppets. The scene involves a weapons inspector coming make sure that everything is being handled according to plan, only to be thrown into a vat full of sharks. That’s kind of funny in its own right, but the funniest thing is just watching these characters trying to walk or do much of anything else.

13. Zombieland

This is another movie that’s kind of out there. Maybe you’re starting to see a trend here. In the scene that’s in question, an old man is basically on his deathbed, talking about things that he might regret. The only thing he can come up with is to talk about Garfield. If you haven’t seen the movie, you might be wondering exactly what he’s talking about. Garfield the cat? Something else? If you have seen the movie, you know what he’s talking about. Otherwise, let your imagination run wild.

14. Old School

This movie has one of the funniest scenes in it that has ever been made. If you don’t laugh at it, it’s because you had it drilled into your head that such subjects are not proper and you should not allow yourself to laugh at something like that. In the movie, an old man that thinks he’s pretty tough comes face-to-face with two women. That might not be so funny in and of itself. However, the two women don’t have a top on. When he takes one look at them baring it all, as they say, he gets testosterone overload and falls over. He’s dead before he even hits the ground, but he definitely died a happy man.

15. For Your Eyes Only

Okay, it’s time for an exception to the rule. This list is really supposed to be about comedy movies and this obviously is not a comedy. However, the scene is priceless. Have you ever thought about how strange some of the scenes are in those James Bond movies? The movies are supposed to be serious, sort of like an action movie or drama. With that being said, they have some of the most outrageous scenes in the world. There’s no way stuff like that could possibly happen, not even in your wildest dreams. It’s hard to take stuff like that seriously. There’s really not that much difference between the real James Bond movies and the Austin Powers movies except that in the latter, the hilarity of it all is jacked up a little bit because it’s supposed to be making fun of the James Bond movies. This one wasn’t intended to be funny, but if you watch James Bond drop his enemy from a helicopter into a chimney, you can’t help but laugh until you’re rolling in the floor. The best part about it all is that this is probably one of the calmer things that happens in the entire movie.

16. Sleepwalkers

This is another Stephen King movie that isn’t really intended to be funny, yet ends up being funny anyway. Granted, it makes a little more sense than the Running Man. Some of the movie even feels sort of like a horror movie, right up until you get to the part where the cop gets killed with an ear of corn. Even if you’re trying to be serious and think of this as a scary movie, you can’t help but laugh. That’s right, one of the lead antagonists in this movie walks up behind the police officer, grabs a cooked ear of corn, and jams it through his head. If it’s supposed to be gruesome, most people are too busy laughing to notice. However, the writers do get points for creativity.

17. Dodge Ball

This movie’s death scene is funny to some and tragic to others. When the beloved coach dies because he’s sitting at a bar inside a casino and the bar’s sign falls on him, most people burst out laughing. Others aren’t so excited. Maybe it depends on your perspective. This is one of those movies that’s supposed to be a comedy but it’s also one of those comedies that only certain people seem to enjoy. For the most part, it’s just weird.

18. Final Destination

If your sense of humor is a little bit twisted, you just might think of Final Destination as a comedy. After all, the entire movie is comprised of new and inventive ways for people to end up getting killed. For the most part, it involves people getting killed in some of the stupidest scenarios that you could possibly imagine, yet somewhere in the back of your mind you can almost see the possibility of something similar happening in real life. You end up watching the movie, thinking about what might happen if you wind up meeting your maker the same way as some of the characters in this movie. Before it’s all said and done, you end up hoping that you have a really good friend that will make up a good story so that it sounds like you went out a hero instead of buying it because of your dental floss or something equally questionable. Of course, it could be worse. You could be the girl that tells somebody else to drop dead right before she gets flattened by a bus. It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “being thrown under the bus,” doesn’t it?

19. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me

In this Austin Powers installment, the main character ends up in hot water and is forced to sacrifice the life of a spy in order to survive himself. The problem is, it doesn’t matter what he does to her, she doesn’t die. She gets shot and then she gets thrown out of a multi-story building and he lands on top of her. Even then, she’s still just as mean as a snake.

20. Monty Python’s Life of Brian

This is a satirical comedy that’s set in religious times. One of the characters is about to be stoned to death, or so he thinks. That is, until the very person coordinating it all says the wrong thing. Before you know it, his dissertation is cut short as all of the stones get redirected in his direction and the original perpetrator stands there to witness it all, laughing like a maniac the whole time.
