10 Things You Didn’t Know about Miracle Workers

If you ask anyone if they’ve tired of shows or a movies with a distinct and very obvious theological element they’d likely say yes or no depending on their taste in movies or TV. But with Miracle Workers it might seem that a lot of people could find their way back to the small screen and watch for just a bit as Harry Potter, aka Daniel Radcliffe, takes up the position of a rather low-level angel named Craig that feels somewhat beset at his job and is also feeling a little underappreciated at times. But while he might be low-level he still has a very important task and it’s one that is kind of vital to humanity since in the show the earth is somehow on the brink of being destroyed by a force that could easily be stamped out if God and the angels do their job. So far it sounds like something that’s worth watching.

Here are a few things you might want to know about the show.

10. The show is based on a book titled In God’s Name.

It’s kind of amusing how a movie or book so rarely gets shown with its original title but there is something to be said about the changing of the name at times since it is done for a reason. Some titles can simply draw a bigger amount of interest while others fall a bit flat and need some help.

9. This is kind of a switch for Daniel Radcliffe, who stars as an angel.

In Horns he was a young man that had been framed for a murder and yet somehow was still turning into a demon that made people want to confess their darkest sins. He was also able to make suggestions that they followed immediately, which turned out kind of interesting in a couple of scenes.

8. Craig, Radcliffe’s character, is a low-level angel responsible for handling humanity’s prayers.

That seems like a tall order for any one angel, but then when you think about it angels are so far above human beings that there might be a number of things they can do at once and make it seem mundane.

7. God is apparently taking a break when the series starts.

According to the story God has kind of, departed, in a way to focus on His favorite hobbies. That sounds odd that the creator of all things would ever take a break, but perhaps it makes more sense than some people think.

6. The first season is only going to have 7 episodes.

So far it really seems as though this is going to be a season in which the producers feel things out and try to gauge the audience’s reaction while watching the ratings at the same time. This way there isn’t too much invested if the show doesn’t manage to impress.

5. So far critics seem to think that it might have a chance of succeeding.

It really depends on which critic site you visit but so far it would seem that the show is gaining some popularity and could be a hit if it keeps going the way it is. It does have a fairly impressive cast and a decent story so hopefully it will be allowed to stick around for a while.

4. To prevent the end of the world the goal is to make two humans fall in love.

You might think ‘is that all?’ but if you’ve read or watched anything such as this then you’d know that free will is always a factor and when it comes to humanity and free will the hardships that are brought on by choice and consequences can be kind of rough to deal with. As far as some people are concerned falling in love is one of the hardest things to do.

3. There’s actually a moment when it’s discussed as to whether or not God can read.

This seems more like a funny bit than any big plot point but it is kind of interesting to contemplate since no one would ever accuse God of being illiterate or unable to comprehend a language given that He is the creator of all things as the good book says.

2. Steve Buschemi gets to play God this time around.

Out of all the people to play God you might not have seen this one coming since he doesn’t seem to have the whole divine act down, but maybe that’s a good thing since it can give us all a different perspective.

1. Owen Wilson was originally slated to play God.

Wilson was supposed to play the role of God but before production could really get started he was already off the project. Thankfully Steve Buschemi stepped in and filled the role for him.

It could be an interesting show. Just take a look.
