It’s popularity has seemed to die down just a bit throughout the years, but the Wahlburgers is still a show a lot of people tune into just to see whatever antics Mark and Donnie are set to play on their poor brother Paul. For the most part Paul takes it all as good fun but there are times when having famous brother can surely be a pain in the backside, especially when they try to intrude upon something that Paul knows a lot more about. But there is a lot on the show that is likely to be scripted and not as real just so that people will watch. There is a lot that you don’t know about the Wahlburgers that they might want to keep under wraps or just keep on the down low.
Here are ten things you might not have known simply because the Wahlburgers don’t want it known.
10. They came from almost nothing.
When the boys were still young the family had next to nothing. They had to borrow just so that the kids could have clothes for the holidays and for the rest of the school year. Needless to say that’s not a problem any longer.
9. They have a very tightly-knit family.
You might not know this, but the family actually consists of nine kids, not just the three you see here. Their mother had to raise all nine as best she could and is honored for the fact since they also own a restaurant with her name on it.
8. Paul is not the only cook in the family.
Their mother Alma is also a great cook. A lot of the items on their menu are there because they are the favorite dishes of her children.
7. They got their boost from the boy band.
New Kids On The Block was a big success in their time and helped the family out immensely. Mark was supposed to join the group but went off to start his own group instead.
6. Mark was a troubled youth.
Mark actually spent some time in jail and had to straighten himself out in order to lead the life he has now.
5. Mark was actually voted as the worst singer ever.
Rolling Stone decided to go on record by stating that they believed Marky Mark to be the worst singer ever recorded.
4. The family is related to Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Though it’s a distant relation the Wahlbergs are actually descended in a way from Hawthorne, as well as distant relatives of Celine Dion and Madonna. Small world.
3. They licensed the name of the restaurant from another establishment.
There is actually another Wahlburgers in Rochester, New York. They did take the necessary steps to use the name though.
2. They have big plans for expansion.
At this point they are thinking of building another 20 restaurants based on their success. They are also thinking moving at least one of them into Canada.
1. The show featured a spin-off.
Donnie Loves Jenny is a direct spin-off of the show, and has been on the air since 2015.
Not a lot of what they keep quiet is stuff that’s that bad, but you can see why they’d like to keep some of it on the DL.
