Rodger Dodger is not so much a coming of age story as it is a transitional film that shows the need of two men, one grow and one still an adolescent, who are need of lessons in life that neither have yet learned. While the younger of the two is wanting to learn how to pick up on women and discover the secret to getting what he wants, the older has to learn how to roll with whatever life gives him and give back to those that have a long way to go yet. In other words it’s a film that showcases how both men can learn from one another just what it means to be real human beings.
It’s one of those movies that comes closer to emulating real life.

If you watch during these scenes you can see that he’s sweating and not feeling good at all. He pushed through though and got the scenes done.

For being a newcomer to the scene he managed to knock his parts out pretty well. It could be that he’s not too different from his characters and needs to be a little controlling.

4. The movie wasn’t a major success.
It didn’t rake in a lot of money but it did manage to win a few awards between 2002 and 2003. That alone says that people liked it enough even if it wasn’t something that could contend with the more popular films.

The director obviously needed a little more time and experience under his belt but he did manage to bring together a cast and a story that fit together so it was easier to forgive any foibles or missteps.

The manner in which it’s shot doesn’t really make it look like something that might be all the funny but there is some real comedy to the movie.
