10 Reasons We’re Psyched to See “Charlie Says”

How you feel about the upcoming movie Charlie Says is a matter of how you feel about the Manson family and the horrible acts they committed back in the 60s, and of course how it was covered over and over throughout the subsequent decades. People have seemed to enjoy going back to this story again and again and again so it’s easy to see that the fervor hasn’t died down as a lot of folks are still willing to get psyched to see a movie about a series of brutal killings. But to be fair it is a part of our history and it is something that seems to be worth taking a look at since there were so many moving parts to the Manson family that one can hardly think that it was a cut and dried matter. This was after all a moment in time when a single man managed to create a family unit out of those that were highly susceptible to suggestion and were obviously seeking a messiah of sorts that would lead them in a direction that they could embrace.

Here are a few things about the movie that you might figure would keep people interested.

10. It’s the third film of the Manson family that will be releasing this year.

One of those films, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, is said to not be so much about the Manson family and their actions but instead will make mention of it. But more than one film even mentioning it seems like a lot at this time. Obviously this is a subject that people have been buzzing about for a little while now.

9. It stars Matt Smith as Charlie Manson.

If anyone remembers, Matt Smith is one of those that has played the immensely popular Dr. Who and will be playing the deranged Charlie Manson in this movie, no doubt in a way that is both brilliant and chilling.

8. As some films have done it will be focusing on the Manson family and how they came to be.

There is a history to the family as it came to be formed and while many have likely read about it and even studied this throughout the years there still seems to be a lot that the masses don’t really know and are willing to learn at this time. It might seem a little morbid, but it also seems like something that people are willing to watch simply because it might offer a new insight.

7. It will go over the Sharon Tate murder and likely find another perspective to use.

The Sharon Tate murder was absolutely heinous since the fact that she was pregnant at the time is something that has struck everyone in a very profound manner. But it would seem that there might be another perspective that is bound to be revealed.

6. This movie will focus a lot on the relationship between Manson and his wives.

The manner buy which Manson was able to somehow brainwash the people that came to follow him and earn their absolute loyalty is something that many people still don’t fully understand, so perhaps something might be able to be unveiled in this movie as to why this was possible.

5. The wives will be viewed in a different light following the murders.

It almost seems as though they’re going to be viewed as victims of Manson’s manipulations, thereby erasing their freedom of choice and the moral codes that many people are thought to live by. It might be an interesting idea to add this in.

4. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Manson killings.

This is likely a big reason why the murders are starting to gain the kind of attention they have been since a full half-century has passed since one of the most heinous murders in the USA occurred. it does seem a bit morbid to celebrate it at all, but this could be why some people are paying attention.

3. It’s a hope that this will not be a glorification of the Manson family.

This would be the last thing that really needs to happen since the Manson family was a murderous bunch of crazed thugs, like it or not, and needs to be addressed as such in the movie no matter how complex their relationships were.

2. People are always looking to the past for tragic stories.

It doesn’t matter what the story is sometimes, people are willing to dredge it up and make it a known commodity to the public. It might sound kind of cynical but it’s also a bit strange to understand how people love to see such films.

1. There’s likely going to be lean to the movie that shows Manson in a different light.

It will be interesting to see just how this movie plays out.

It might be worth watching at least once.
