Anime fans have their favorite characters, and characters they hate most. You will be surprised to learn that there are characters that hated by majority of anime fans not because of what they did, but because what they failed to do. In such cases, the characters had super powers that fans expected them to use fully, even if it meant the characters were going to risk their lives. The hated characters instead choose to either hide. In this guide, we are going to look at the top The 20 Most Hated Anime Characters of All-Time.
Seryu Ubiquitous
Seryu Ubiquitous has a gentle and pretty look, however, her compassionate look are simply misleading to her true character. She has a twisted sense of humor that has made her fight and kill many innocent characters who did not deserve to die. However, she always wasn’t like that, she used to be virtuous in the initial stages of the plot. Her change from being good and loving character to becoming a monstrous character makes fans feel more betrayed by her character. She uses special powers from her biological weapon called Koro to overcome her victims who are not away that it cannot be destroyed using simple weapons. It simply regenerates to repair its tissues faster than the damage caused can harm it. Just like its master Koro also looks innocent and playful before it goes berserk. Most fans hate her from the moment she kills Sheele, who is loveable, and happens to be the first main character to die. Overall, she has black and white ideals, which easily makes her a great villain instead of the hero she hopes to become.
Shou Tucker
Shoe is a minor but hated character in the animation “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.” However, he uses his brilliance to do something that totally alienates him from his fans. He turns his wife into a chimera, and then leaves her in that state to suffer for the rest of her life without a way to come back to her human form. What’s more disturbing is that the wife didn’t do anything to deserve such a treatment. As if that wasn’t enough, he also turned his daughter and dog into chimeras, then combined them into one, before leaving them in that state again. While he doesn’t appear as a major character in the anime, he still draws enough ire to qualifies to be among the 20 most hated anime characters. Looking at him, and recalling what he did to his loved ones, makes many fans think of him in the same light as real life monsters that traumatize people.
Envy
Envy’s is character with a monstrous nature from “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” and its gender is not known. However, that’s not what makes fans hate this character. Envy is hated for doing what its name suggests, being envious of humanity. Envy will do anything to start animosity, such as when it killed a child to start a war that wasn’t meant to achieve anything but destruction. It’s therefore no surprise that no one is able to love this character unless they have a twisted perception of life like Envy does.
Naraku (Inuyasha)
Naraku is a deceptive character in the animation “Inuyasha” who is known for having an uncontrollable rage desire to cause disharmony among those he interacts with or who cross his path. For Naraku, watching everyone suffer is one of the few things that he enjoys doing, which is why he is considered one of the despicable villains around.
Makoto Itou
When it comes to greedy and immoral characters, Makoto Itou of “School Days” can be considered to be among the worst. He didn’t care about the feelings of those whose relationships he broke but believed that if he enjoyed it, they should enjoy it as well.
SÅsuke Aizen
SÅsuke Aizen from “Bleach” is hated because he chooses to let others do the dirty and heavy lifting for him while he pretends to be weak. Initially, he can be seen walking going about his business like a simple with glasses on. At first, that image endears him to fans who think that he is a humble person. However, he is not, what was happening is that we were being introduced to someone who could have become a hero but chose not to use his powers to do good to others. Instead, he tricks others to do his evil acts, while he sits backs pretending he cannot do anything because he has no powers. We all hate such people in life who don’t want to lift a finger to help even when they are able. If they trick people to do evil things on their behalf, it’s obvious that we would hate and despise them even more, which is what happened to SÅsuke Aizen in the animation bleach.
Kyuubey
Most people have wishes that they may never get to fulfill, and no one offers them a chance to do it or trade those wishes with something else. In “Puella Magi Madoka Magica,” Kyuubey changes all that to become a villain who is tricks people that he is going to give them powers if a magical girl. All they have to do is willingly accept to his offer, and then he will act on their consent. However, that is not what he truly wants to do. Hr is only working to save the universe from entropy while sacrificing the aspirations of those who choose to trust in him. He will not let compassion stand in the way of achieving his goals, which is a mark of a true villain. It’s therefore no surprise that most fans ceame to him him for his inconsiderate actions and selfishness of purpose.
Squealer/Yakomaru
We all know of villains who have risen to positions of leadership across the globe through actions of idiocy or deception. They have then gone on to do commit monstrous crimes in a bid to create a perfect world that they have always envisioned. That is the nature of Squealar from “Shin sekai Yori,” who also goes by the name of Yakomaru. He started as being an ally of the protagonists, but later fans realized that he did that to get an opportunity to take the place of the gods. He then went ahead and severally wounded his queen’s head, before leaving her to continuously suffer in that state of helplessness. While he saved her two children, he later betrayed them and used his idiocy tactics to rise to power. He then went on to massacre queerats and humans in a bid to fulfill his dream. After all that destruction, he didn’t get what he was dreamt of achieving. Instead, he ended up getting a punishment that is worse than death. His whole character doesn’t give the image of a protagonist but that of a loser who doesn’t take want to risk anything to achieving something. Her clings to life so hard that it becomes impossible for him. However, most feel that he is hated because he portrays the image of a victim who doesn’t want to rise from defeat. Since most fans can relate to defeat and childhood oppression, him failing to rise makes them feel trapped in that world. They want a character that defeats the villain that traumatized their childhood and free them from that mental suffering. Shinji had a troubled childhood, which broke his personality beyond repair. Therefore, fans hate him because he fails to become a hero, although there are opportunities to do it.
Excalibur (Soul Eater)
Excalibur is a character from “Soul Eater,” and it’s hated for a good reason, especially when you take human history into account. We all know how much power swords gave to warriors before humans invented guns. Many armies ruled the worked because of the superiority of their swords and the soldiers who used them It’s therefore expected that in any animation, the best sword should be able to make s difference. Unfortunately, Excalibur has looks that stops great warriors from choosing him so they can use him to win battles for the good of humanity. Therefore, unlike the great deeds that it helped King Arthur to achieve in the legends we all love to hear, in “Soul Eater.” It’s therefore clear why you wouldn’t love this sword, it like it’s there to annoy fans for its inability to inspire success.
Alois Trancy (Black Butler 2)
In “Black Butler,” we get to see what happens in the world of the super rich and how spoilt it makes some people to become. Moreover, has signed a contract with Claude Faustus, a villain who enjoys eating the flesh and soul of his victims. They have agreed that once the contract is over, Claude is to devour him, which is great news for those who hate him anyway. However, before that happens, he will continue to unleash his wicked nature to anybody who crosses his path, whether they did something wrong or they were just innocents minding their own business. As the Earl of Trancy, it’s not hard to guess that many are going to become his victims.
Misa Amane
Misa Amane of “Death Note” wasted a gift that none of us would ever want to waste. We all desire to have a gift to control evil and restrict only to those we believe deserve to die. That’s why many think that such a great tool shouldn’t have come to a character such as Misa Amane of “Death Note.” She made Light, who is a villain aware of its existence. Light then went ahead to use it to commit mass murder. In the end, there a few people who the monster left alive, Misa Amane being among them. That’s why fans hate her, all she had to do is keep the Death Note to herself, and use it to kill the bad guys before they harm the innocents.
Masao Murasako
We all hate it when we meet people who are attention seekers and all they want is people to think highly of them, even when they don’t deserve it. That’s what happens in “Shiki,” an animation about a Japanese Vampire that turns Msao Murasako’s town into his feeding ground. However, something unexpected happens after the 17-year old Masao becomes his victim, but then he comes to back to life as a living dead. One would have expected that he would change and help the local people fight the vampire. Instead, his previous nature resurfaces. Finally, he decides to visit his sister, which is when he gets what many believe he truly deserved to get.
Sakura Haruno
One of the most popular animations is “Naruto” because most of the characters inspire confidence in the way they tackle their problems and enemies. They don’t let the dark character outshine them in carrying out their duties to overcome evil. Unfortunately, one does not think that’s the way to deal with evil. Her name is Sakura Haruno. Most of the time, she is just in the background afraid to take center stage even though she has sufficient powers to do so. In fact, Rock Lee has more impact in the fight against evil although his powers are limited to using only taijutsu. Overall, Sakuru is known for her crooning over Sasuke Uchiha instead of focusing on using her powers to fight evil. With her power, fans expected her to perform a leading role in the animation.
Suzaku Kururugi
Who doesn’t hate those who stub others behind their back? Which is why you should expect from Suzaku Kururugi is betrayed his father in the animation “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.” While most people see him as a person that is likeable, that is not who he is in person. Just like all people who betray others, they have a tendency to do stuff that draws people to them, just before they turn around and do the worst. In the case of Suzaku, after betraying his kin, he started to fight Lelouch after the latter launched a rebellion. However, when the second season was released, he turned around and decided to join him. According to him, the plan was to join him so that he could get close enough to kill him. The outcome is what the fans didn’t want, the true hero of the anime dies while Suzaku lives on.
Vicious (Cowboy Bebop)
As the name suggests, one could expect to get an extreme character from those who are given such names. However, in the anime “Cowboy Bebop,” Vicious keeps a low profile while in the first season, where he was still friendly with his partner Spike Spiegel. Later in the second season, things turned around when Vicious gets to know about Spike having a relationship with girlfriend. He then decided to ask his girlfriend to murder Spike. Unfortunately, for him, that didn’t happened. It’s in the second season that fans are given reasons to hate vicious for his desire to commit murder to resolve such issues.
Slaine Troyard
A few people may have heard of Slaine Troyard of “Aldnoah.Zero”, the Royal Family raised him in Mars. He lived as someone that others in the royal household despised and treated as a dirty Tarren and an outsider. In his life, his allegiance was to Asseylum Allusia, who is princes of Vers Empire, and he is willing to lay down his life for her. Later the princess was slain and Slaine decided to go and avenge her death. What’s more is that she died while he was trying to protect her. Something that’s interesting is that when he picks up the gun, he doesn’t kill the assassin, instead, he kills the person who was trying to protect her, “Inaho Kaizuka.” What follows next is a series of events that leads people to hate him so much.
Teach Marshall
You may not recognize Teach Marshall of “One Piece.” However, you will know him as Blackbeard, who was a member of the Whitebeard Pirates’s second division. He was among Portgas Ace’s underlings, but his appearance wasn’t one that you would easily remember. He appeared arguing in a restaurant with Luffy about food, and we didn’t even get to hear his name. Things take a different twist after he tries to saves his brother life from getting axed, and succeeded. However, he ended up losing him when Akainu punched a hole in Ace’s back, killing him on the spot. That meant the most loved person died, leaving Blackbeard to be the only remaining and most hated character.
Zamasu
Zamutu was a god who didn’t want humans to continue existing, and simply wished to eliminate them from the face of the earth. He believes that humans shouldn’t have been created and it’s best to eliminate them from the face of the earth in order to deal with some of the challenges experienced wherever they live. He talked of the way humans start new kingdoms that prosper then go on to attack those that are weaker. It’s all a cycle of destruction where no one ever brings about permanent stability. Fans hate him for failing to use his powers to help humans solve their problems instead of taking the escapist route and denying them a chance to better themselves. However, he failed to achieve that goal and people hated for him that. It’s therefore not a surprise that most people wanted to see an end to his existence.
We hope that you can identify with this list of anime characters that anime fans hate most. Fans hate characters because they don’t live to their ideals in one way or another. However, that doesn’t mean they hate the anime, it’s just that they feel some characters could have lived a better life in the anime. You are welcome to share your views on these and other hated characters.
