Whatever Happened to Bounty Hunter Star Tim “Youngblood” Chapman?

Tim CHapman

It almost seems as though Tim “Youngblood” Chapman (no relation to Duane Chapman) has kind of dropped off the map these days, but one can hardly blame him when they take a look at everything that’s gone down in his life in the past two decades. The third-generation bail bondsman decided that bounty hunting would be the way to go and for a while it seems as though it worked out for him as he was given a purpose and a way to make a good life for himself and his family. But of course, as you can imagine, being a bounty hunter wasn’t always a glorious life filled with glamour and the thrill of the hunt. Chapman actually found himself in trouble a couple of times either due to behavior that he did his best to explain away or because of something that might have been avoided had he and Duane studied the laws of the country they were in a little further so that they might understand just what kind of trouble they’d be getting into. Honestly, not knowing that bounty hunting was illegal in Mexico might have been a good thing to research before crossing the border, especially given that the US and Mexico haven’t always been on the best terms throughout history.

Still, he and Duane did manage to beat the rap on this even with the threat of prison in their future, and they continued to operate as they had been. At one point Chapman took a year-long hiatus from the show in order to attend to his family, but once he came back it was business as usual. His troubles didn’t cease however as at one point, as reported by Allison Cacich of Distractify, he was arrested for supposedly fondling himself in a car in public view, though his explanation was that he was attempting to change his pants in his car after having spilled something on them. The reason that he had extra clothing in his car at that point, as stated by his lawyer, was that he’d split with his partner at that point and had nowhere else to go. That seems kind of hard to believe considering how much the show Dog the Bounty Hunter was reported to have made, but when one considers that Chapman has a rather large family to support it becomes easier to accept. The legal troubles that he found throughout his career as well have been exceedingly expensive no doubt and it might be that he simply couldn’t afford the life any longer, from a financial and emotional standpoint, which could have facilitated a departure from the spotlight.

It has been reported that he’s retired completely from the bounty hunting lifestyle and has full custody of his kids at this point, but apart from that his days of being the public eye have faded off and any mention of him at this point is usually relegated to old memories of his bounty hunting days and the trouble he found while attempting to make a living. A lot of people tend to think of bounty hunting as the hard-nosed, hardcore style that cops simply don’t get to experience and the guys that go in and do the job that law enforcement can’t do thanks to the rules and regulations that set them apart. But in truth a bounty hunter, while not quite as bound by regulations, still has to follow the law, they just don’t have to wear the uniform or worry over the bureaucratic mess that hampers a lot of cops when it comes to apprehending a fugitive. In simple terms, a bounty hunter is an average person that doesn’t have the need for as many regulations as a regular police officer that has to be trained, tested, and pay their dues to walk the beat or become a detective.

Chapman’s disappearance from the spotlight isn’t so much a bad thing as it was necessary in a big way since not only was the show on its way out, but the reputation of a bounty hunter is something that can rise and fall depending on how they present themselves and how they go about collecting their bounties. All in all it’s not a profession that’s truly respected by a lot of people but it is one that some folks tend to think of as being badass and kind of alluring in a way. The thing about being a bounty hunter though is that a person needs to realize, if they work with law enforcement things can go as rough or as smoothly as possible depending on their attitude and their approach to the job. Sometimes though going in with the wrong attitude can create more problems than a person is ready for, and can even end up getting people hurt. Thankfully for Chapman he walked away before the life could really get to him.
