What We’ve Learned about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Instagram Account

Perhaps one of the most important things we’ve learned about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Instagram account comes from Josie Cox of the Independent, and that’s the fact while he likens the addictive quality of social media to alcohol and drugs, he’s still bound to use it and to be seen promoting in one way or another. Oh yes, and he does promote alcohol since Cox did state that he came out with a new brand of vodka. So it’s not an intent to put the prince on blast, but it is a reminder to him that while having an unhealthy outlook on social media and a very strong addiction can be detrimental, there are still many upon many individuals that use it in a very responsible manner. So far as it can be seen the official Instagram of the royal couple doesn’t feature an overwhelming number of pictures yet, but those that have made it on there seem pretty positive. It’s entirely possible for social media to be used by those that network and use it for private purposes to be seen as something exceedingly useful and even worth pursuing in terms of bettering and improving its wide array of services. The millions of followers that the royal couple has no doubt vary in their desire to see something truthful, dramatic, or even downright scandalous, though a great many of them are no doubt those who want to be in the know when something, anything, happens.

Elise Moreau of Lifewire only confirms the thought that social media is more about who uses it and how when it comes to the ups and downs of it. Those that use the various social media platforms that are out there for work are typically those that find the benefits of networking to their advantage as it opens lines of communication that might not be available otherwise in one’s immediate vicinity. For personal use it’s very much the same since people can now talk across the nation or across the world to one another with ever having to be in the same room. Some might say it’s addictive since there is a great deal more than communication being offered by each platform, and this can take up a great deal of a person’s time and become an addiction that allows them to forget just what it means to get out and actually be a part of society, but it would seem that this is far more rare than people might think.

One thing you can say for the royal couple’s Instagram account is that it has a wealth of followers that may or may not be those same individuals that Prince Harry seems to worry over, addicts that don’t seem to know any other way to exist than on social media. If a person was truly worried over the welfare of others and really wanted to set an example that they believed others could follow then it would behoove them to forego the idea that they seek to speak out against. It’s true that Prince Harry doesn’t seem to be firmly against social media, but his outspoken nature towards it seems rather hypocritical if he and Meghan are still going to be posting and communicating with others as time continues on. Those that truly feel strongly about such things are typically those that don’t participate in said activities and thereby refuse to be seen on the social media grid. Honestly it’s all well and good to argue against the overall health concerns that can come from social media and its many applications, but instead of speaking out against the idea of social media, it might be wiser to speak out against the actions of the users, not the technology.

Social media is, quite honestly, the newest and most effective way to speak to people and has managed to bring the world much closer in terms of communication. Yet it also grants the kind of ease with its use that is inherently harmful since it negates the need for people to get up and get out occasionally to interact with reality. What seems to be missed in this argument however is the fact that many upon many people will still crave face to face contact so as to speak with a person and hear their actual voice while standing in their presence. The need for human contact is still quite strong within the human race and it might be a long time, if it ever happens, until social media negates this entirely. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stand to gain a great deal from their exposure on social media since unlike the old days when it was required for reporters to travel extensively to gain a news story about anything interesting, now it’s just a matter of having a phone and a social media account.
