What We Learned from The Brooklyn Nine Nine Season 8 Teaser

The fun has one more season to go and then Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be handing the badge and gun before heading out. To say that there are a lot of people that are sorry to see this happen is an understatement. For years now Brooklyn Nine-Nine has brought a great deal of needed comedy to those that love police shows but tend to get bummed out by the content from time to time. The final season is bound to be a laugh riot that will also focus on the idea of saying goodbye in a hilarious but dignified manner, since the show has been one of those that has been there to keep people entertained, but it’s also had its serious moments along the way as well. With everything that still needs to be said about the show it’s hard to pinpoint just what people will care about without writing a book, but it’s fair to say that one of the reasons that the show is headed out has to do, in part, with the civil unrest that’s been going on as of late, and since the previous year.

Without pointing any fingers, the situation in America has been growing worse over the past several years even while those that wear the badge are doing their very best to make it clear that the safety of the people they’re paid and sworn to protect is their first and most important priority. Those that have soiled the badge they wore in one way or another are too often being used to paint the entirety of America’s police force as thugs with guns and badges, given authority over the people by those that care nothing for them. The reality of course is that as in every profession there are those that don’t have the temperament for it, or shouldn’t have been hired or kept on so long. But being a police officer with an attitude is far different than being an office worker, and unfortunately, the negative feelings toward police officers have translated to TV shows as it’s been seen by many.

What’s kind of funny about this is that Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a comedic police show, with serious moments here and there to ensure that it’s not all fun and games and that parodying police work isn’t the only thing the show was bound to do. But if there is any truth to the idea the show is going off the air because of anti-police sentiment, then it does show that the state of the nation isn’t as stable as it should be. If a show is bound to offend people this much then it’s evident that people have forgotten what humor is all about and why it’s important in life. It’s hard to say at this time when, or if, things will ever return to a state of equilibrium that wasn’t perfect but was easy enough for many to adapt to. The show is one of the many that people have been enjoying for a while now and to be quite honest, watching it go is bound to be kind of tough. But the stars and those that run the show are doing this for a few reasons that not everyone is privy to. All a person can do is trust that those in charge know what they’re doing and why, and that one of these days we’ll see a demand for this show to return, if it ever can. Right now the definitive answer appears to be a silent but firm ‘no’ since those that would want to criticize police shows are definitely boisterous when in their own comfort zone, but will tend to grow silent when people are actually listening.

It’s too easy to criticize those that harbor an anti-police stance since to be fair, the idea of degrading and even abolishing the police is an idea that an angry teenager that’s been busted for a crime might come up with. There’s no denying the horrible things that have been done in the past and the horrible things that have occurred in the present, but showing bias towards a fictional police show is a nonsensical stance that speaks to a lack of maturity by those that would create such a fuss. In the meantime, shows such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine are for entertainment purposes and as such are typically allowed to do what they can to give the public something to laugh at and to empathize with. Anti-police sentiment isn’t entirely unjustified, but allowing this to determine what will be shown on TV and what won’t sound’s an awful lot like the type of attitudes that many are accusing the police and their supporters of harboring. When all is said and done though, Brooklyn Nine-Nine will still be heading out, so it’s only fair to say that it’s been a great run and a lot of people will be getting pumped to see each episode.
