In the past decade the movies that have been attempted as a means to create a new universe and thus a new franchise from their brand have come and gone and failed as much as they’ve succeeded. Fans have either loved or hated such movies and are definitely nitpicky when it comes to various details. With the road paved in such haphazard way though it’s time to see if the upcoming franchises can come along with a bit of damage control to smooth things out and start gaining back the fans that have already been lost.
Call of Duty
There is a ton of story line to go with here and a lot of directions that any story can take. The main ones that would no doubt be more enticing would be those that are experienced in the game, but there’s nothing to say that a director wouldn’t just take the story in their desired direction. It kind of all depends on which story they would choose to do first, or if they would somehow try to fit them all into one epic tale.
The LEGO Movie Universe
It’s already been seen that the LEGO universe has been firmly established thanks to several movies both on the big screen and on straight to DVD movies. The audience has spoken in no uncertain terms that this universe is definitely a must have in the film industry and continues to support it. The LEGO Batman movie definitely stands in support of this.
The Sony Marvel Universe
This is a universe that’s still building but has had some success in the past. It would be great if the Sony Marvel Universe and the MCU could finally mend things between them and bring themselves to share the rights for certain properties it could definitely lead to some accurate and epic films. Just imagine Tom Hardy’s Venom going up against Tom Holland’s Spiderman.
The Hasbro Universe
It might not be the best idea, but fans are kind of eager to see G.I. Joe reboot that’s worthy of the brand. Plus, Transformers has been more hit than miss since its emergence on the big screen. This universe has been building for a while and is already well set. At this point there’s not a lot that can be done to knock this universe off of its perch, but it still bears watching.
The Hanna-Barbera Universe
There is a wide array of cartoons to work with for this universe but each one needs to be brought in with some care and attention to how they will be treated. Already Scooby Doo has been allowed to bomb out twice, and nothing really came from it. If they continue, and they’re expected to with a new, animated Scooby Doo this time, they’ll need to keep in mind that the audience might want this, but they want to see some of their favorite cartoons treated properly as well.
It should be interesting to see what will become of these new universe and if they’ll take any further root in pop culture.
