This is The Underwater Iron Man Jetpack

Leave it to engineers to make something sound awesome and then look just as awesome. Of course unless you’re a fellow engineer or just someone that’s really smart and understands what they’re doing every step of the way you might be a little lost. One thing you can’t mistake however is that they are essentially making a bare bones underwater Iron Man jetpack. Yeah, that’s right, and underwater Iron Man jetpack.

It looks like a sound enough piece of tech but the applications for it are as of yet really unclear. I’m more than certain it could be used for something useful but the idea is still kind of in its infancy it would seem. Tony Stark might be able to kick it up a few notches and create an underwater super armor that, oh wait, he’s already done that.

It’s a cool idea and I’m sure something will come of it but you’ve got to hand to engineers when they just want to have fun, they come up with some really amazing things. Of course it’s kind of hard to understand when you don’t see the world the way these individuals do. Those that can look at something in the material world and think of what they can do with it and the kind of things they can make for nearly anything are just amazing. It’s kind of easy to be jealous of such individuals simply because your mind doesn’t work the same way, but then again realizing that your mind might work in a way theirs doesn’t kind of evens it out.

Engineers are definitely the doers in the world. They want to know how to it works, what makes it run, how can they make it work better, and so on and so forth. It’s the spirit of innovation and invention that drives them and it’s very fun to watch at times. The only downfall of this particular experiment is that everything they’re using has to be sealed water-tight so that they’re not frying themselves when they dive into the water. Thankfully everything seems sound enough and good to go since no sparks came shooting up and the diver didn’t sink to the bottom.

Still, when you really think about it these guys are essentially trying to find a way to avoid learning how to swim. Sigh, like I said, it takes an engineer. Because learning to swim wouldn’t be in their nature, obviously, they opted instead to take the time, effort, and expense of creating a suit that could help them enjoy the water and avoid the pesky time and effort it takes to learn how to move your arms and legs in a series of rhythmic motions that could allow them to stay afloat and even move forwards or backwards.

But that’s a lot of work for not enough payout obviously. So why not take the time and effort to invent a machine that could do it all for you? I really don’t understand engineers. No I don’t, but oh well.
