Five Famous TV Shows That were Utterly Insane Behind the Scenes

Believe it or not some of your favorite TV shows are anything but ordered and sane behind the scenes. Several of them were utterly and absolutely insane when people couldn’t see, offering up workplaces that seemed outright hostile to situations that were anything but amenable to the actors or the crew. The unfortunate part is that most fans don’t know about this since unless they read articles such as these they watch the shows, find out about the actors, and that’s about where it stops. But when the cameras stop rolling it tends to get a little nuts sometimes.

It’s not all smiles and laughs like you think.

5. Friends

It’s not much of a secret any longer but during the third to sixth seasons of the show Matthew Perry has a huge blank spot in his memory that was thoroughly erased due to the fact that he was high all the time. It might take a fan that truly knows everything about an actor to figure out what he was smoking, drinking, or otherwise using, but Chandler was funny for more reasons than simple comedic genius.

4. The X-Files

Equality on the X-Files wasn’t a big priority for anyone but Gillian Anderson for a while as she was forced to work for less than David Duchovny for quite a while, and she was even told to walk a few steps behind him, sort of like a Robin to Mulder’s Batman. That really backfired however as Scully’s popularity continued to rise as the show continued. To this day she’s still got the edge on her male counterpart.

3. Game of Thrones

The scene leading up to this one is about as close as you’ll ever see Bronn get to Cersei Lannister. This has to do with the fact that the two actors dated in real life and didn’t part under the best of terms. So when they were cast in this show there was a clause of some sort that stipulated that they would never appear in the same scene together, and that’s why this is not likely to ever happen.

2. Saturday Night Live

You might think that it would have been fun working around John Belushi, but apparently the opposite was true. If you were a man it was probably a blast, so long as his ego and yours didn’t try to occupy the same space. But if you were a woman on this show back in his day then it’s apparent that Belushi did everything he could to make their lives miserable. That sounds so unlike the fun-loving character we all came to know and love but accounts are pretty consistent when describing how he thought women weren’t funny and couldn’t possibly do comedy as well as men. Sigh, it sucks having your illusions shattered.

1. The Walking Dead

So many people have lost their minds trying to get the idea of bringing Frank Darabont back to The Walking Dead that you would think the guy was the messiah when it came to the show. Unfortunately the few transcripts that exist of how he really treated people speak of anything but. There might be a good reason why he didn’t come back.

Did I shatter any illusions?
