By no means am I saying that the show Married with Children was underrated, but I will say that I don’t think it was given as much appreciation as it should have. When you think about it, there are certain shows that are talked about that influenced television in ways that none other have. Shows like All in the Family, The Cosby Show, and even In Living Color.
But you gotta give credit to Married with Children. It made fun of poverty and actually centered on an America that’s probably the majority of this country, not the minority. Sure it was inflated reality but it was hilarious nonetheless. And no one epitomized “being male” more than Al Bundy, played brilliantly by Ed O’Neill I might add. His take on women, family, and work more than likely paved the way for a lot of stand up comedy in years to come. And not only that, television shows that feature a father that is “depressed” about his life.
If you think about it, look at shows like King of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond. And more modern day? How about Mike and Molly? Husbands that make fun of their depressing lives. Seem familiar? From not wanting sex, to wanting sex, to all out hating himself, here are 10 awesome moments in Al Bundy history. And we know, there are plenty more
