Love Her Madly was written during a time when The Doors were in a cool down stage. Jim Morrison wasn’t in a good way at the time and the band was feeling the effects of his decisions throughout their career. However when Morrison heard the song he took to immediately and it was something that the band was able to get behind pretty easily since it was something that a lot of guys can relate to. It’s basically just how it sounds, a woman walking out again and again no matter how many times she comes back or is convinced to stick around. It’s frustrating for both sides really.
Eventually a person has to make up their mind to stay or go you’d think.
5. The Doors
The Doors were one of the top bands of their time and for many years after people absolutely worshiped Jim Morrison. He seemed to produce answers to life on more than one level that people tended to think were insanely deep. In some cases he was seen as a guru while in others he was almost seen as a messiah. Keep in mind that a lot of people during this time period did a lot of drugs, particularly when listening to The Doors.
4. Love Her Madly
The film has a lot to do with obsession and how three men are so completely fixated on the same woman. In the real world such a thing would present a problem and all three men might have to go without. But in the film it’s kind of disturbing to think about and watch. However this is what the song is all about, but perhaps not on such a creepy scale as the movie portrays.
3. Bo Diddley
When a legend like Bo Diddley wants to reproduce or cover a song then there’s nothing else left to say but ‘thank you’. The Doors were a great band but allowing someone else to cover your song, especially someone that pioneered the transition of Blues to Rock and Roll, should be seen as an honor, and I can’t help but think that it was. Hearing a favored song in another genre is pretty interesting sometimes.
2. George Winston
If you didn’t know the song already chances are you might not recognize it right away by listening to this. But if you do know the song then you should be able to pick out the notes fairly easy, as this version is a little clunky in some spots but otherwise hits the right notes just fine in order to bring forth the feel and pace of the original track.
1. Forrest Gump
I think it’s safe to say that Jenny made a few bad life choices that some folk would argue aren’t really her fault. She didn’t have the best childhood after all and didn’t have a stable father figure to look up to. However even when presented with a man that loves her unconditionally as Forrest did she still turned away and resumed her bad habits. Unfortunately it takes a lot of time to move past those old habits.
Don’t you love her as she’s walking out the door?
