There are a host of alien characters throughout film and TV, but the most current have become some of the most interesting to date. They might have their quirks and their odd personality traits, but in truth some of them are older than others despite the newness of their current appearance. Others are just downright frightening either because of their appearance or lack of any real visibility at all. Sometimes the scariest aliens are those that don’t even need to step on screen and work through others in a way that’s not unlike a puppeteer controlling their minions.
Here are a few current aliens on TV right now that range from hilarious to outright creepy.
5. Roger – American Dad
Roger is an alien, one of the grey variety, that lives with Stan Smith and his family. This character is the very definition of over the top as he takes on a wide array of personalities during the show and is flamboyant in many of them. He is a very sarcastic individual that combines a host of characteristics similar to several of the characters that Seth McFarlane voices throughout his many different roles.
4. Jeff – People of Earth
There really isn’t much on Jeff yet except that he’s a grey, kind of short, and has a definite personality. He works on the sub-ship with his fellow aliens Don and Kurt, and is in tasked with the questioning and evaluating of the humans that are brought aboard the ship. His role is a little confusing since it seems at times that he’s the nurturing type, but at others that he’s a little more surly towards certain people.
3. The Monster/Demogorgon – Stranger Things
This thing is just scary. There’s no other way to describe it without writing a book. It feeds on people, it drags them to another dimension, and it’s virtually unstoppable by any conventional means that have been used to date. In fact the only thing that has managed to stop it is a little girl that uses a power that humanity has not yet learned how to harness. If for for Eleven this creature would be free to continue its hunt with impunity.
2. Kara Zor-El – Supergirl
The slightly older cousin of Superman is no stranger to the viewing public, but it’s been surmised for a while that she has yet to gain the same level of notoriety. It’s interesting that Supergirl is older than Kal El and yet she defers to him a lot in the comics and other venues. It might be better to call her Superwoman, but that might be met with a great deal of resistance. Plus, the idea that she might be somehow superior to Superman would no doubt blow the minds of many a fan, even those that know the truth. She is in fact superior to Superman in a few different ways.
1. Hosts – Colony
These aliens are no doubt the scariest because they don’t even have to show up on the series often enough for anyone to get a good look at them. They are the silent voices controlling the elite humans that they select to keep the rest in check. Having almost no direct contact is perhaps the worst thing that anyone could do to another, as it brings about the idea that your life is meaningless to those that are attempting to subjugate you. To them you might as well be another ant in the anthill, disposable and forgettable. That’s a truly impressive and overall dangerous alien.
The variety of aliens on TV right now is kind of fun considering that there are so many to watch. There’s comedy, horror, suspense, and a strange kind of dramatic comedy that is gaining more and more fans per episode.
