8. Jess Bradford- Black Christmas
Olivia Hussey plays the heroine Jess Bradford in this 1974 psychological slasher horror film. While Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Psycho’ is often credited with beginning the trend for slasher style horror movies, there are only actually two killings in that film. It would be fair to say that ‘Black Christmas’ was the real ground-breaker in this genre of film. Jess is one of the sorority sisters who are receiving threatening phone calls. They are then stalked and murdered one by one in the holiday season. The culprit is a deranged murderer who is hiding in the attic of their sorority house. The movie was written by A. Roy Moore and directed by Bob Clark. It also starred Keir Duella, Margot Kidder, and John Saxon.
