TLC’s “Evil Things” Series Premiere Recap and Review

Evil Things is a new television show that premieres on September 15th on TLC. The basis of the entire show is to prove to the audience that common, everyday objects do indeed contain energy. Furthermore, the show strives to prove that these objects don’t always contain energy of loved ones passed, but that sometimes, that energy can be nothing short of terrifying. In other words, the entire show centers around things that are haunted. People have a tendency to pick these things up and bring them into their homes, thereby allowing their homes and even themselves to become haunted. As indicated by the title, the show doesn’t focus on friendly hauntings, but things that will keep you up late into the night.

People that typically follow paranormal television shows will probably make the connection almost instantly between this particular show and another show called The Haunted Collector. While the basis for the two television shows is the same because both of them deal with things that are haunted, The Haunted Collector is not a show that always focuses on evil. Because of that reason, Evil Things is actually a much more terrifying show than The Haunted Collector could ever be.

The premiere episode dealt with something that most people would consider to be absolutely harmless, a camcorder. Obviously, the unsuspecting party that picked the camcorder up would have never thought that it could be haunted or that it could cause so much disruption in a person’s life. However, that is exactly what happened. While many people might not be fully convinced at the validity of the show, others take it at face value. One thing is certain, the very idea that something as innocent as a camcorder could disrupt so many things is a terrifying thought. It definitely makes you think twice about bringing used objects into your home. People will probably never look at garage sales or flea markets same way again after they watch the show.

Evil Things is a show that promises to make it difficult for you to sleep, especially when you consider the fact that it comes on at a time when most people are trying not to think about things that would keep them from going to bed. All kidding aside, the show is attempting to show the audience something that could potentially disrupt their own lives in much the same way that the individuals on the screen have had their lives disrupted. It is actually bringing attention to something that most people don’t really think about, and that is to consider the energy of objects that are brought into the home before actually doing so.

Whether you believe in that sort of thing or not, watching Evil Things is definitely going to make you think twice before you buy that next item at an estate sale. If the series premiere is any indication, the show promises to be both interesting and terrifying throughout its initial season. While only time will tell, it looks like a show that will definitely be worth watching for its duration.
