If any Vampire Diaries fan ever wondered how the hell the 27 vampires ended up in the tomb under the Old Fell’s Church, last night’s episode answered that pretty simply: they were all incredibly stupid. Meanwhile, Anna has a change of heart when she sees Jeremy again and Kelly falls into the arms of Damon, which I am deciding whether or not that’s a good thing.
Oh, and there was a double date between Elena & Stefan and Matt & Caroline. But there is no rest for the wicked with these four…
The Set Up
Ms. Gibbons house has become The Boarding House For Lost Vampires as Anna makes her way through the rooms and we see vamps getting schooled in technology and catching up on the news, which will take forever almost. Anna ends her “tour” when she enters the dining room and spots one of the vampires, Fredrick (Stephen Martines), feeding off a willing Ms. Gibbons. Anna, feeling sympathetic a bit for Ms. Gibbons, suggests the woman take a rest, but Fredrick thinks otherwise.
As the title suggests, ‘there goes the neighborhood’…
* In an attempt to sync up everything that went down tonight, I will save the A story line later, which is the double date., followed by a epilogue.
Antsy Vampires
Poor Pearl. Not only does she have to worry about her vamp daughter, but she has to worry about discontent vampires as well. Fredrick, who wants to leave and raise hell, basically, but doesn’t get how that idea would not make a lick of sense now. Thankfully, Pearl has Harper as a willing helper, but Fredrick hasn’t brushed up on his history (or the current date) and doesn’t take it kindly that a slave is giving him orders.
Pearl does manage to take care of the first order of business, which is to visit Damon, who immediately tries to take Pearl down for entering the Salvatore mansion unannounced. But Pearl has been eating her Wheaties and popping her Flintstone vitamins, because she subdues Damon without breaking a sweat nor a nail. After Damon becomes a willing participant, Pearl fills him in on the other vamps and their location. She then questions Damon about his connections to the Secret Council in town and demands that he reports to her about everything; including lists of members, family members, and people had vervain supplied to them, which Pearl puts a cease and desist order on immediately. You see, Pearl and the other vamps want their home back, which is Mystic Falls and they want it back now. She offers Damon the one thing he wants in return for his participation: Katherine.
Damon feigns disinterest of Katherine and refuses to bow down to Pearl, who tells him that the extra credit project is not an optional assignment and that she will crush him as hard as a wave would crush a dinghy boat. Then she pokes his eyes out. OUCH!!! After this incident, Pearl meets up with Jenna about buying Dr. Gilbert’s old clinic building, which is a town relic. Is Pearl planning a super attack?
Meanwhile back at the ‘ranch’, Fredrick whines about not liking the house and wanting to leave it, despite Pearl’s wishes. After Harper confronts him the two go at it and are broken up when Pearl arrives and tells Fredrick to cool it or his ass is grass.
But Fredrick doesn’t pay any attention and takes another vampire, Beth Anne, with him on a night on the town.
Jeremy’s New Drug
Jeremy hasn’t stopped in his search of vampires and gets a surprise in Anna appearing on his doorstep. While playing games, Anna claims that while Pearl will try to open a store in town, she will try to attend high school. Yeah, right. Jeremy thinks this is cool and brings up the subject of vampires to her again; only this time Jeremy believes the tales Anna told him when they first met and feels that vampires are misunderstood outsiders. Even Anna balks at this interpretation, but she lies that she made it up to win Jeremy over. Womp Womp.
Later as they fix sandwiches, Jeremy covertly slices his hand to get Anna to vamp out. He succeeds and when she does, he tells her to not fight it and lets her drink from his wound!!!!! This crazefest is interrupted by Jenna (Thank GOD!), but when Jeremy returns to Anna, she is gone like the wind.
Anna returns to the house and Pearl lights into her for being out so late and asks Anna to not defy her, due to the uprising forming around them.
Kelly is back in full force and is already embarrassing Matt. He suggests that Kelly look into a bartender position at the Mystic Grill to help stabilize her. While waiting for the manager (Kelly snagged the woman’s boyfriend one time), Kelly meets Damon who is nursing his eyes. The two hit it off nicely and to add in the fun, Jenna shows up and the three start to have a wild night at the bar. That is until those pesky kids show up! Jenna eventually bows out, but Kelly wants a nightcap with Damon, who obliges without a blink of an eye.
NEVER Go On A Double Date With Your Ex!!!
While at school, Caroline whines to Matt about Kelly’s dislike of her and notices that Matt is distracted by Elena and Stefan kissing in the hallway. So to nip that problem in the bud once and for all, Caroline later suggests a double date to Elena and Stefan so that Matt can see how happy Elena is and move on. Elena doesn’t want to go for it, but Stefan thinks its a great idea. Mmhmm, says the loner.
Elena tries to get Stefan to cancel the date, but he explains that he always wanted to do normal high school things with her. They also suggest to make it a vamp problem free night. HA! But during their double date at the Grill, Matt continually reminisces of the good times that he and Elena had… Not a good thing if you have a girlfriend/friend like Caroline.
Later while Matt and Stefan bond, Caroline gives Elena the third degree about the reminiscing, which she should be directing to Matt, not Elena. But before Elena can give a rebuttal, Fredrick’s dumb ass is in the bar and grabs Elena and calls her Katherine. So much for that vamp free night. Elena texts Stefan the incident and they search for the two vamps, who are gone. They decide to go back to the Salvatore mansion with Matt and Caroline after witnessing the trio of Damon, Kelly and Jenna.
When they get there, Elena and Stefan discuss just letting the vamp issues rest for a night and continue to have fun. When they enter the mansion, Matt and Caroline are in awe and Caroline even feels as if she’s been there before. HAHA!!! Matt and Stefan quickly bond over Stefan’s Mustang model car collection and Stefan takes them to see the real thing. Matt is so excited that he brings up old memories of making out with Elena in a sports car. Caroline is pissed and storms off. Elena follows her and Caroline lets loose about feeling like a “backup” when no one can get Elena, including Bonnie. Stefan and Matt drive up in the newly fixed car that they were just marveling over and Stefan gives the keys to Matt, who takes Caroline on a ride. Matt uses the time to tell Caroline that despite his past and feelings of Elena, Caroline is his present and he wants to stay in the present with her. He says he wants Caroline in so many words and she accepts. They literally kiss and make up.
Meanwhile back at the mansion, Damon has brought Kelly home and the two of them go at it… then Stefan, Elena, Matt and Caroline walk in on them. The mood is ruined for both camps and Matt takes his mom home, while Elena takes Caroline to her spot.
The Jig Is Up!!!!
Jenna leaves the Grill and has a shoe malfunction, which Fredrick appears to help with. While doing so, he gets the Salvatore boys address and tries to glamour Jenna, but she has on some type of vervain perfume and is not at all turned on by Fredrick’s lame ass pick up line. Research, my dude…
While Stefan says goodnight to Elena after the Kelly/Damon debacle, Fredrick watches from afar. This idiot… By the time Stefan can chastise Damon, they are attacked by Fredrick and Beth Anne, but while Stefan manages to kill Beth Anne, Fredrick barely gets away and vanishes. Serves the two idiots right.
Later when Fredrick returns to Ms. Gibbons’s house, he is met by Pearl and Anna. He confesses that Pearl was right by them needing to stay put. No sh*t, Fredrick? But Pearl has had it and she stabs Fredrick with a wooden spoon, warning him that he better stay in line next time or he is dust in the wind.
Conclusions
– Matt and Kelly make it home and Matt lays it on his mom by saying that he shouldn’t be out busting his chops to pay the bills for her house, while she makes a fool out of herself. Wow…
– Jeremy and Elena brush their teeth, but keep their activities of the night to themselves. Elena then calls Stefan to let him know that she made it in safely. Little does she know that Stefan is cleaning up from the vamp attack.
– Jeremy returns to his room to find Anna there and demands to know why Jeremy did what he did when he knows that she could have killed him. Jeremy points out that she didn’t, but that doesn’t mean a damn thing in my book. Anna then asks how did he know and Jeremy goes into his past with Vicki and points out Anna’s own articles as his clues to the mystery. She swears him to secrecy, but the jaw dropper comes when Jeremy reveals that if Vicki was turned into a vamp then he wants Anna to TURN HIM INTO A VAMPIRE AS WELL!!!!!
WHAT THE F@%#?!?!!!!?!?
From The Journals of The Council
– What The Hell, Jeremy?!?! I thought you would be hunting vamps, not trying to become one!!!!
– I swear the Tomb Vamps are a bunch of morons so far… Excuse me, FREDRICK is a moron so far, but he might have help given what we saw in the promo for next week!
– Pearl is becoming quite a foe and if she is as strong as Katherine in, the blood bath that they could create would be devastating. Hurry up and bring Katherine to Mystic Falls!!!!!
– Caroline needs some self-esteem classes and fast.
– Kelly and Matt. God I can sense the bonding they will have if Vicki’s body is ever uncovered….
– No Bonnie!?!? WWAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
– Are the writers saving Tyler’s werewolf story for later? I hope they haven’t forgot it…
– A nitpick moment: How did Jenna and Kelly not run into each other at the Bachelor’s Auction last week? I don’t get it…
Until next week! Meanwhile, I will try to find some of that vervain fragrance for men. Hey, you never know when you might need it…

Nice episode, but a few questions. Where is Alaric? I hate when they don't tie up loose ends. So did he leave town or his he hiding out from Damon? And is it just me or does anyone else think its weird that Damon bled when Pearl poked his eyes out. Isn't he…..um dead? Hopefully they will pick up with Anna and Jeremy in the next episode but it pretty much looks centered around Damon/Stefan/Elena so again I will be left with my questions….as usual.
