Tonight’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York City transported the drama of St. Barth’s back to the city where nothing, absolutely nothing, was resolved. Plus, by the looks of the “Next Time on…” segment, it seems as if they will only get even worse.
The episode started with a gathering put together by a mutual friend of LuAnn, Ramona, and Sonja named Pamela Morgan (no clue if she’s related to Sonja or not), who is a well-renowned cook. The theme of the gathering was that the women’s significant others would be doing the cooking, meaning that Jacques was in attendance with LuAnn. Of course, Ramona mentioned in her confessional what everyone was probably thinking watching LuAnn fawn over Jacques: did LuAnn and Jacques discuss Tomas?
By the look of LuAnn’s clearly terrified face during her confessional and her forceful “Everything is fine here, darlings!” interaction with Jacques, I think it’s safe to say that LuAnn only brought up her “Italian friends” when she told Jacques about St. Barth’s. How I wish I was a fly on her immaculately French decorated walls now… Luckily for LuAnn, Ramona took the high road this time by not mentioning Tomas to Jacques, claiming to take a page out of LuAnn’s book “and pretend that it never happened.”
Not long afterwards, the three women sat down to discuss St. Barth’s and Aviva, who LuAnn defended by reminding, yet again, that Ramona and Sonja were plotting to have Reid leave the house once they got there. But I can’t help but wonder why LuAnn is taking up for Aviva so tough when Carole and Heather both acknowledged that Aviva’s behavior was very unbecoming of her. Either way, LuAnn was just glad that she wasn’t the top St. Barth’s scandal of discussion at the moment.
Meanwhile, Heather and Carole decided to get totally wasted at a gay bar while discussing the sheer lunacy of St. Barth’s and Aviva’s “Me, Me, Me!” attitude. Carole brought up a conversation she had with Aviva that we never heard of that revealed that Aviva was a runaway bride, canceling her wedding a week before the big day. What that had to do with Aviva’s mind state in St. Barth’s is beyond me, but maybe that nugget of information flew over my head due to watching Heather and Carole getting drunker than a frat boy on game day. The other funny thing about this scene? The gay men seemed to be a little enamored by Carole and Heather as if they wanted to bed them. Or bed their clothes.
Heather later caught up with LuAnn to discuss the fights in St. Barth’s, but she was totally fishing for information on LuAnn and Jacques status as a couple. The topic of Aviva didn’t last long for once as Heather went right in to see how LuAnn and Jacques were doing, which LuAnn answered fine. Heather didn’t buy it and nearly balked when LuAnn brought up doing IVF so she and Jacques could have a baby, because it proved that LuAnn had not mentioned Tomas to her French beau. But if LuAnn didn’t come clean in St. Barth’s or even in her confessionals, what made Heather think that LuAnn would come clean to Jacques? Come on now, Heather, you were doing so good with the common sense these last few episodes. Don’t lose it now.
After being the talking point of most of the conversations in the first 20+ minutes of the episode, Aviva finally arrived on a dinner date with Heather and Carole and couldn’t wait to discuss how horrible the trip (which she dubbed “The Escape From Alcatraz”) was for her. Again. For the umpteenth time. Carole admitted that she didn’t want to hear anymore of it in her confessional, but Aviva continued on hammering Ramona for enabling Sonja’s behavior to make herself look better in comparison. Um, what?!
While Carole had done everything by throw her hands up at the situation, Heather stepped in to inform Aviva of Sonja’s recent issues involving her divorce, finances, and the like, which could contribute a lot to why Sonja wants to just have fun for once. Aviva backed off, but not for long as a later dinner with Heather rehashed the trip again, to which Heather was like ‘live and let live’ and ‘stop making everything out to be about you, Aviva,’ albeit in the nicest way possible. Carole also didn’t have too much luck with Sonja, who was over the situation and had bigger issues on her mind. Like meeting her ex-husband for the first time since 2006 to discuss her divorce settlement. Again, this could be a great reason for Sonja’s wild behavior, which could be a way for her to deal.
Finally, Aviva invited Sonja to lunch where Aviva tried to explain her part of the situation, but nothing in her explanation really said “I’m sorry.” Sonja countered with not being cool with being called names that she felt Aviva couldn’t take back, no matter how hard she tried. Aviva then threw Ramona under the bus by saying she was duped by the woman, which didn’t make any sense whatsoever. The conversation pretty much went downhill after Sonja flat-out told Aviva that she didn’t care about her feelings and that she was over Aviva and her antics. My mouth hit the floor and rolled under my bed before I howled.
In the end, Aviva chastised Sonja for letting Ramona lead her into a downward spiral, while Sonja reminded Aviva that she never said anything about Aviva’s character for her to be treated that way. Well said, Sonja.
Next week it will be Aviva vs. Ramona and I’m ashamed (to an extent) to say that I’m looking forward to that smackdown, because if stares could cut, it would be helter skelter up in that restaurant.

I think Ramona gave “The Fifth” to Luann again! My co-worker at Dish can not understand why I love this show, but she has yet to watch it. Unfortunately, I will miss the upcoming episode of “Real Housewives of New York,” but it looks like Aviva’s dad is getting in the mix next week. Good think I pre-set my Hopper to record the new episode, and since there is so much DVR recording space I won’t miss any of the drama this season. I loved Sonja’s Gilligan shirt she wore during her lunch with Aviva; that was definitely a lost at sea situation.
