General Hospital fans are very big on relationships. The entire point of the show is to give people the kind of love and chase and relationship drama that no one really wants to have in real life, but that they want to see in the television world. Some of the couples we see here are amazing and fabulous, and then there are those that seem like they are everything but. There are so many couples in Port Charles who are the worst kind of couples. They are toxic and they are not in a good place with one another. And we don’t love that. So, we thought we might break down some of Port Charles’ most toxic relationships.
Liesl and Cesar
This is one of those situations in which two people who have too many things in common. Opposites are often the people who find that they can attract to one another, but this is one of those moments when that is not a thing. This is a moment in which we have to focus on these two being the same awful person at the same awful time — which is nothing short of toxic. This is a couple who is just bad for one another. They are no good. They are very bad. They are toxic. He’s a monster, she’s not better than him. They did, however, manage to have some very interesting times together. He never seemed to be nearly as into her as she was into him, but they managed to maintain their state of bliss — well, if you can call it that — for some time. Years, actually; which is not something that should make too much sense to us, but it does.
Carly and Sonny
We love them. We really do. They are all the things we find good in the world, and they are our favorites, but they are not good for one another. They are quite bad for one another, and their entirely marriage has been nothing short of toxic. They hurt one another regularly, and they seem to enjoy it. They don’t seem to have much respect for their marriage at all times — yet they love one another so much. They are bad at communicating from our standpoint. They have bad things happen all the time, but they rarely turn toward one another to help that seem better. Their big deal is that they seem to turn from one another and to other things to help with their pain, and that’s not how a good marriage is made. But, we do hope that they can figure out things on their own and make it all seem worthwhile in their lives. We hope that things will change for them, but we never know for certain that it will work in their favor. Carly and Sonny, however, are both just toxic in general, and it’s not their own relationship that’s special. They can list all of their previous relationships as exceptionally toxic.
Maxie and Lucky
Neither of them had a great time with their relationships in the past, but they were especially bad for one another. He was so good with Liz, but they were also just as toxic for one another. When he turned to drugs and began abusing him with all the problems that they are dealing with, she was there for him to enable him and let him work through his issues. He was with Liz, but Maxie came in and found herself lusting after him, which caused him to cheat. She also found very little issue with his drug use, and she was not all that upset by any of it. But, we know that there is nothing that we can do to stop a man who is not going to change his own situation. She helped him along with just a physical relationship that nearly destroyed them both, which makes them beyond toxic. They didn’t last long and it was never really serious, but they were so bad for one another. It’s hard to find two people who bring out nothing but the absolute worst in someone all the time. But they managed to do just that.
