The Five Best Isla Fisher Movies of Her Career

The Five Best Isla Fisher Movies of Her Career

First and foremost let’s get this out of the way since it’s kind of a ridiculous thing to argue about, but Isla Fisher is NOT Amy Adams. Yes the two look a bit alike and yes they do have roughly the same stature if you just glance at them. But Isla is in some ways a little more robust than Amy, seeming to be built a little more solid yet appearing no less feminine for this quality. Her acting style is also quite different as she’s a bit louder than Amy and definitely more forceful in her delivery. A few of Isla’s characters are just flat out nutty since she gets to go wild with them in a way that seems to be opposite of her otherwise laid back persona when she’s off screen. You might not know her all that well by name but the chances seem good that if you like comedies and romance movies then you might have seen her once or twice.

Here are a few of her best movies.

5. Confessions of a Shopaholic

Getting right down to it this film is all about a woman that has a serious shopping problem, serious enough that she lets her debts pile up and up and up even as she’s reaching for each new high point in her life. Eventually she starts doing well as a columnist for a magazine, but as you might guess her life catches up with her and she not only gets fired but has to sell off a good deal of the clothing she’s bought just to try and even up her debts. In the end she finally gets the money she needs to pay off her debts and does fall in love with someone that took notice of her attempts to get ahead.

4. Keeping Up with the Joneses

This is almost like Mr. & Mrs. Smith meeting the Cleavers in a way since Jeff and Karen have no idea just what Tim and Natalie are into but come to find out eventually that they’re both spies that are seeking out a traitor in Jeff’s company. Throughout the movie you can see how the couples start to bond with one another and yet you can also deduce that those working in espionage are often told to never get too close to those they work around, with, or otherwise since it can lead to a very dangerous situation as it does in the film. But eventually Tim and Natalie have to move on, though Jeff and Karen do see them again.

3. Now You See Me

Magic and illusion are powerful tricks that can fool the eyes and senses of many that want to see the trick but tend to look too close. It might sound silly to say that moving in too close to see the trick behind the illusion would defeat the senses, but it’s very true. Illusionists use a wide variety of tricks and want you to come in close, that way they can use the misdirection to keep you off guard and unaware of what’s about to happen. Those that are aware of the tricks are still not quite that safe since they’ll be looking in yet another direction while the illusionist can therefore try another trick they likely have up their sleeve.

2. Wedding Crashers

Admittedly this is a very cheap and low way to meet women, but when you play upon the sensitivity and emotional range of people you tend to find that a lot of folks will gladly bend to your will if you know which points to touch upon. To treat wedding season like open season for hunters however is something that seems kind of perverse since it’s all about instant gratification that’s achieved by fooling those that are either too polite or don’t know any better to say something. There are a few weddings in this movie that seem as though they might have been allowing the guys in just to be nice.

1. Tag

Isla is one of the best characters in this film since she’s not allowed to play the game and yet she’s the most intense person that’s involved with it on any level. By the time the guys make an amendment to allow women to play she’s fired up and ready and isn’t about to let anyone get away from her. The whole idea of a game of tag being played for so many years is kind of silly and a lot of people might have thought that this would be a ridiculous movie. But sitting down without any expectations was the best move when watching this flick since it opened one up to a whole spectrum of possibilities. And in this manner it wasn’t a disappointment in the least.

Isla Fisher is both funny and glamorous and she does both roles very well.
