Can you believe that Linkin Park has been around for over 20 years now? That used to be some kind of record for any band that stuck together for so long, but this group has been entertaining their fans and many others that hear them on occasion for quite some time, long enough for at least a few generations to enjoy them. Sadly their lead singer Chester Bennington committed suicide in 2017, shocking many and depleting the group more than a little despite the fact that they’ve continued to push forward. Linkin Park is one of the many bands that some people don’t like and some people love since they have a very vibrant and energetic sound that speaks to many different people on a variety of levels that allow them to reach a very wide and diverse fanbase. Thankfully they’re still around since their presence is something that does help to elevate the music industry.
Here are some of the best uses of Linkin Park’s music.
5. Carpool Karaoke-Numb
Numb is one of those songs that feels hard even if it’s not because it allows you, if you have the courage to sing along, to just belt out your inner feelings and let them be known. It’s a track that has a lot of emotion to it and expresses frustration as well as aggravation over being looked down on, ignored, passed up, and just in general being thought of as not good enough. Such songs have almost always been those that seem like they tend to get too emotional and possibly are created by those that have great lives but feel as though something’s missing and want to whine about it. This song isn’t about that.
4. Red 2-Given Up
Red 2 takes place a few years after the original movie and is just about as crazy since getting the band back together again is about the only way to survive when corrupt US officials start targeting the team once again. It doesn’t help that a world-class assassin is out to get them as well, but when that same assassin is convinced to join forces with them rather than hunt them down at the same time the fight becomes just a little more fair since these are top-level former operatives after all and despite their advancing years they’re still able to kick more than their fare share of butt when it’s needed.
3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen-New Divide
This was probably one of the more unpopular Transformers movies considering that the story wasn’t something that a lot of fans recall and probably felt came out of left field. After all if you’ll recall when the Transformers really rose to prominence Megatron was thought to be the big bad. When the animated movie came out Unicron was the baddest bot in the universe, and any mention of ‘the Fallen’ either hadn’t come around yet or was simply too obscured by the 90s to make headlines. At the very least this showcased Linkin Parks song in a big way and helped it to stand out just a bit more.
2. S.W.A.T.-Figure.09
This movie didn’t get a lot of play despite having some of the best actors of the time in it. From Colin Farrell to Michelle Rodriguez to Samuel L. Jackons and LL Cool J, the cast wasn’t the problem it seemed. They did their job and they made it at least watchable. But something about it just didn’t resonate with fans and it kind of got buried as a less than popular film. The soundtrack though was pretty cool and Linkin Park helped make that possible since their hard-hitting and swift-moving songs are the kind that inspire action and the kind of scenes in which you know something’s going to happen.
1. Medal of Honor-The Catalyst
First-person shooter games are hard enough when you don’t have music blasting at you as you play, but the adrenaline some songs inspire in players can just get them pumped up that much more since when you get into the rhythm of the game you tend to forget the words to the song and just go with the beat and forget everything except the essentials. To some people music is an impediment when they’re playing a game but to others it’s like fuel for the soul as they play harder, smarter, and don’t go down as easily as their adrenaline peaks and their reflexes actually get a bit sharper.
Some folks have actually said that Linkin Park is the kind of music you listen to when you can’t hang with heavy metal or anything harder, but the truth is that Linkin Park is hard without having to be so over the top abusive to your ears. When it comes to music it’s best to adopt an attitude of ‘to each their own’, which means that if you like Linkin Park don’t ever feel that you have to justify your fandom.
