Taraji P. Henson: Why The Super Bowl was So Sentimental For Her

Taraji P. Henson has become one of the most high profile actresses in the last five years.  While many may credit this to her role on Empire, that’s only a part of the picture.  Henson’s been a rising star in cinema ever since she appeared in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Hustle and Flow.  Her performance in Hidden Figures is just a reminder of how talented she is.  But yesterday with real life and acting aside, Henson felt a lot of emotion at the Super Bowl.   It was a subject that can hit home to all of us.

While being interviewed at the Super Bowl, Henson revealed that it was a sentimental time for her because the Super Bowl reminded her of her late father.  She remarked about how she and the family would cook dinner and watch the game.  A story all too familiar to most of us.  Henson reminds us that the Super Bowl isn’t just about watching a game.  It’s about being together, spending quality moments with the people we love, and creating long lasting memories.

Henson wishes her father could have gone to a Super Bowl but more importantly she smiles when remembering the great times that Super Bowls of the past provided she and her family.   You can see the brief interview below:
